Really, the only final complaints I have about the full title are minor. The soundtrack, while steeped in nostalgia, was rather uninteresting to my ears. The battle system is perhaps a bit too simple, but in the context of a crafting game, it fits the title well.

While the issues I had do hold the game back from a perfect score, Apocalypse is a game that JRPG fans, and even just 3DS owners, should not pass up. The depth in story and gameplay is incredible, and the accessability options can let anyone dive in, newbie or veteran.

As I’ve said in the past, if you’re a rhythm game fan, you’d be doing yourself a great disservice in passing this game up. While it’s not the best entry I’ve played in the series, it’s a very solid release nonetheless. Make sure you go for the PS4 version if you...

This is another one of those games I’ve played this year that isn’t bad in any sense of the word, but rather incredibly disappointing. Adding more variance to the game in gameplay, mission structure, and environments would easily lift this up to something more recommended. As the game is now,...

Those that play immensely-detailed and intricate grand strategy games like the Europa Universalis series may find this game a bit of a step down, but for strategy fans and gamers in general, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII definitely comes recommended. I do have the feeling that the PC version of this...

Between the two versions, I would highly recommend checking out the PS4 release. Despite the awkward touchpad controls during certain moments, the game is much less cluttered on a larger screen, and the framerate is beautiful. If you only have a Vita, though, the handheld version is more than serviceable.

As a full-price release, I cannot recommend Integrity and Faithlessness. Perhaps by next year, when I assume the price will drop quite a bit, it will be worth looking at. The things the game does well are worth an experience, but only at a budget price. Until then, I’d recommend looking...

I am Setsuna is a beautiful, snow-filled love letter to former JRPGs. While the lack of variety may strike some players as boring, it sticks to its aesthetic and presents us with bits and pieces of what we loved from older JRPGs years ago. The all-piano soundtrack and snowy setting...

Luckily, Breached is a budget release at $7, which isn’t a horrible price point if you’re interested in checking out the story. However, I find it difficult to actually give this game a recommendation, as I had a hard time even bringing myself to play through it. I would highly recommend...

At the end of the day, Umbrella Corps was a game that nobody asked for. It’s bad outweighs the good and because few people are playing, has longer wait times than a two day old competitive online shooter should. The only saving graces this game has is a host of decent customization...

I can’t help comparing this game to Megatagmension Blanc, as I mentioned earlier. They are both in the same genre and developed by the same company, so the comparison is apt. Shinovi Versus definitely has the upper hand in gameplay, with the characters being much more distinct from one another, even in...

Critical issues aside, this game is just oozing with personality and charm. Playing through it now, it’s easy to see why this game is as well-loved as it is. Sure, it hits the same notes that many JRPGs have, but the shortcomings are vastly overshadowed by what made the title such...
