Gal*Gun: Double Peace Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Gal*Gun: Double Peace was excellent on its original release on PlayStation 4, and it’s excellent here. People will no doubt write this up as shallow and crass titillation, just as they did with the first release, but then shallow commentary isn’t exactly uncommon where anime and fan service is involved. The game is satire and it is therefore a commentary. You don’t have to like it, but that doesn’t change what it is. Without a doubt, Gal*Gun will unsettle some people, and that’s fine – the game’s just not for you, and you don’t have to buy it – but if you do find these kinds…
While unconventional Gal*Gun: Double Peace offers a solid rail shooting experience with more content than oen would expect given the subject of the game and those who manage to embrace the crazy and slightly perverted nature of the title will be in for a great time.
The Nintendo Switch has become a safe haven for the titles that, previously, would have raised a massive number of eyebrows across the globe. Coming from a perceived “family-friendly” console, people often forget that Nintendo’s roots were all about the bizarre and questionable games that got released, specifically on the NES during the heyday of unlicensed games. One only has to do a quick search to see that Bubble Bath Babes, while not a top seller, was definitely something where pixe...
As technology and tastes progress, so too does the video game design meta. Some genres like the beat 'em up died out as they paved the way for bigger and better versions of the genre (in this case, the character action game); others have suffered greatly as time passed, their legacy as fleeting as the - Read our full Gaming News on The Outerhaven .
Between the two versions, I would highly recommend checking out the PS4 release. Despite the awkward touchpad controls during certain moments, the game is much less cluttered on a larger screen, and the framerate is beautiful. If you only have a Vita, though, the handheld version is more than serviceable.
Gal*Gun: Double Peace is a humorous and risque on-rails shooter that features rubdowns, schoolgirls shot with euphoria and even some tentacles to boot. It is far less offensive than it will be pegged to be but quite funny and featuring a great localization from PQube. Lock and load, lewd dudes.
Obviously Gal*Gun Double Peace is a niche game that will alienate many players due to its strange premise and questionable gameplay systems. The fact of the matter is though, that it’s a great deal of fun of play. Its strength is its outlandishness, and whilst sometimes you do feel a bit dirty for playing it, its light-heartedness smothers any vulgarity or innuendo to disarm any offence that could be caused. Gal*Gun Double Peace may simply be a juvenile story packaged with shallow gameplay, but for anyone that enters with an open mind, I think they’ll find it to be a heartily entertaining affa...
I didn’t think I would have this much fun with a casual rail shooter that uses touch controls, but Gal*Gun: Double Peace kept me engaged and entertained with its uncompromisingly Japanese high school antics.
Gal*Gun Double Peace is a shooter-on-rails game with light elements of a dating sim. You play a high school boy who gets shot by a powerful love arrow, causing girls to attacking him to declare their love. What follows is...well...Read More
When you see an enemy, shoot it! That's how video games are played, right? Well, not this one. Gal Gun has you fend off swooning girls with pheromone shots to make them collapse in ecstasy so they leave you alone. Wait... what?
The artwork is simply stunning, so fans of Japanese animation or games in general have something to come for. Unless you’re a hardcore genre fan, it may also go far enough to scratch your rail shooter itch. If then you’re also allured by the story and getting to intimately know all of the main cast members, then I think you’ll love this game. Again, it’s packed to the brim with Japanese fan service which I myself generally love. In a sequel though, maybe it can add some interesting gameplay to supplement that.
