Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China feels like an Assassin's Creed game without the sense of adventure and scope, and a Prince of Persia game without the cool platforming and exciting combat.
Whereas many modern takes on classic retro genres fall foul of style over substance, this has been built with such skill that it doesn't need to rely on our annoying fondness of the past to impress.
If you're new to the series or looking to jump in, you could well be playing this until Gearbox release Borderlands 3.
The extreme highs carry Ori and the Blind Forest through to greatness if not quite flawlessness. Rarely is a game able to be so devilish in its gameplay yet so touching in its story.

Spark has made its best game to date, but Lost Planet 3 fails on so many levels the end result is still only a notch above a complete washout.
The Gunstringer is the best 'proper' game I've played on Kinect and stands as a decent title regardless of platform or peripheral used, but it's a little shallow and asking for a lot retailing at £30.
Rise of Nightmares isn't a good game, but at the same time it's a novelty you might want to give a look.
With the campaign over in an afternoon and the rest of the package failing to offer anything to keep you playing, The Run is some decent throwaway fun that will be forgotten very quickly.
It's not a particularly attractive game, the locations aren't especially memorable and the tone is a teenage boy's wet dream. If that sounds like a laugh, you'll probably have a decent time.
If you're a hardcore GT fan this game will cater to your needs; everyone else will find a game that's often tedious to work through, and missing essential functionality.
