Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
With the best multiplayer shooting that money can buy, an incredibly action-packed campaign and plenty of superb two-player co-op levels, this is without a doubt a real contender for game of the year.
Modern Warfare II is considered to be the pinnacle of Call of Duty multiplayer design. Many years have passed since the simple days of online lobbies and split screen multiplayer; we now live in the age of live-service gaming, constant seasonal updates and changes being made almost daily. The newly released spiritual sequel to 2019s Modern Warfare has now finally arrived, with special thanks and shoutout to our very own local game developer contribution from Sledgehammer Games Melbourne studi...
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is certainly not a perfect game, but for all its flaws, it’s my favorite CoD game that I’ve played so far. The story mode was a blast, and the multiplayer is just as addicting as ever. It’s one of the best looking games we may have so far, and I recommend playing it on a next gen console or souped-up PC if you can to see it at its full potential. Infinity Ward has proven yet again that Call of Duty is at the forefront of the FPS genre, and I’m really impressed with how they continue to drive the series forward.
It’s that time of year again. It’s cold, the sun starts to go down sooner and sooner every night, pumpkin spice lattes start being sold in caf´s, and there’s a new Call Of Duty on storeshelves. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, not to be mistaken with the similarly named title that released in 2009, is the much anticipated follow up to the 2019 reboot of the beloved series. After the lukewarm response to Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard, it was time for the series to really nail its annua...
Task Force 141 makes its massive return with a global squad of iconic veterans, these Operators include Captain John Price, Simon "Ghost" Riley, John "Soap" MacTavish, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick and introducing Mexican Special Forces Colonel, Alejandro Vargas.
Great campaign, coupled with intense multiplayer mayhem but all of that is dragged down by an infuriating number of freezes, crashes, and stutters - both in single-player and multiplayer.
Modern Warfare 3 takes a risk using recycled content to sell nostalgia, but the payoff is enticing gameplay with classic features.
It’s developer Infinity Ward’s turn in the Call of Duty hotseat for 2022. After finding success with 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, the team has focused its efforts on a sequel, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 exploring an “unprecedented global conflict” with “state-of-the-art gameplay.” Armed with a story campaign, competitive multiplayer, and co-op PvE, MW2 looks good on paper. However, when you start playing, the multitude of missing or half-baked features and inexplicable gameplay mechanics start to pile up and drag it down.
Once again, the makers of Call of Duty are taking us on an adventure that could have been directed by Michael Bay. We reviewed the single-player and multiplayer modes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 offers something for everyone, whether you’re a fan of solo campaigns, competitive multiplayer, or co-op.
Despite corrections making for an improved all-around package, Modern Warfare II continues the series' ongoing trend of paling in comparison to its original namesake.Reviewer's Note: Due to the controversy surrounding it, I'll be evaluating a few SPOILERS from the campaign. Read [...]
Now that the game has been out for a while and we’ve moved away from some of the hype and hyperbole, just how good is Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign? Matthew John McCormick investigates.
