Ravenlok is an action-adventure game where you voyage through a mysterious Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland-esque world to defeat an evil queen. While the game certainly succeeds on the atmosphere front through its soundtrack and visuals, the gameplay does not match that same standard, featuring simplistic combat and a deluge of...
Showgunners
ShowGunners could have easily been a big ol’ mess. Not many games that incorporate a number of genres and mechanics at once can make them work in harmony. The premise of the game as well, when put on paper, sounds too hectic to be successful. You play as Scarlett, a...
Stray Blade attempts to set itself apart in the now all too overcrowded souls-like genre. Though aside from some vibrant visuals, a more standard approach to storytelling and world-building, and an attempt at a simpler combat system, the game needs to do more to stand out from the pack.
The latest offering from Arkane Austin, known previously for the Prey reboot, has arrived in the form of Redfall. This open-world, cooperative FPS puts you in control of one of four characters as they fight back against a vampire uprising that has plunged the town of Redfall into a blood-stained...
Age of Wonders 4 is a 4X turn-based strategy game developed by Triumph Studios and published by Paradox Interactive. It’s the latest instalment in the Age of Wonders series, following the 2019 release of Age of Wonders: Planetfall.
Varney Lake
There’s something magical about narratives that focus on a group of teenagers embarking on several weeks of summer holidays. Expectations are high, the sun is ever present and warm, the air is rife with the possibility for adventure. Varney Lake, the new narrative game that is the follow-up to 22s’...
Bzz bzz! What time is it? Why, it’s Mail Time, little mushroom friend! Billed as a “cottagecore” adventure game, Mail Time is a short 3D platformer full of cosy charm. Originally a student project by developer Kela van der Deijl, this narrative adventure was given new life after an extremely...
Cal Kestis returns for another thrilling adventure in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Jedi: Fallen Order. With a team of talented developers from Respawn, EA, and Lucasfilm Games working tirelessly behind the scenes, Jedi: Survivor promises to be an exceptional action narrative.
Strayed Lights is a game that managed to pique my interest within the first few seconds of its trailer. The presentation and art direction are simplistic and vibrant in a way that will surely turn heads for any that see it, but watching the trailer did leave me feeling a...
When you play a strategy game, you don’t think much about the units that fall in battle. But when you realise they are living beings that give their lives for you, the stakes suddenly rise. Ash of Gods: The Way puts you in that powerful yet uncomfortable position as you...
Bramble: The Mountain King takes players through a realm of twisted folklore based on horrific Nordic tales. An adventure of wondrous fables and intimidating creatures awaits as young Olle chases after his sister into the forest after dark. Despite drawing some early and unfavourable comparisons to titles like Little Nightmares,...
Trinity Trigger gave me a mixed experience during my 15 hours with it. The first 6 hours were rough, with unique ideas buried within layers of tedious plot, tired fantasy tropes, and repetitive dialogue. I only kept playing because I had to, but I’m glad I did, because Trinity Trigger...
