Final Weapon's official review of Halo: Campaign Evolved, available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a serviceable remake of the Xbox classic, even if it wasn't really called for. Not settling for a simple coat of paint, this game takes all the best parts of other Halo games and blends them with revamped graphics to reshape Combat Evolved into a game modern audiences will enjoy. I just wish some of the more frivolous changes had been left out.
Thanks to its new missions, Halo: Campaign Evolved gives longtime fans something fresh while expanding the wider Halo universe. Every element comes together to create a fitting anniversary celebration for one of gaming’s most influential franchises. Whether someone plays on Xbox or PlayStation, Halo: Campaign Evolved is a must-play.

Halo: Campaign Evolved Review
A faithful, gorgeous, and surprisingly bold remake of the shooter classic.
Review: There are some issues that will irk some players, but Halo: Campaign Evolved is a successful remake nonetheless.
Does this Halo remake need to be entirely faithful, or can it be its own thing? We pick that apart in our Halo: Campaign Evolved review.
Halo: Campaign Evolved feels like it brings everything I loved about Combat Evolved into the modern era.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a fantastic remake that updates the game with a visual overhaul and some quality-of-life improvements, without harming the core of the original game.

This time it comes with a few bells and whistles.
The iconic Halo franchise returns to its roots with Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake focused on a new generation of gamers.
Most of what Halo: Campaign Evolved does on a technical level is refine, not replace. And while the core gameplay is great, most of that already existed back in 2001.
Bullet-spewing combat feels satisfyingly simple, while a handful of modernizations keep action slick
A neat, but fundamentally flawed remake that doesn't always understand the appeal of Halo.

Halo: Campaign Evolved brings back one of the coolest FPS experiences of all time, and it looks better than ever. Unfortunately, some PS5-specific headaches and bad performance issues are currently holding it back in major ways. At least half the missions on base PS5 have awful framerate issues, and the always-online, required linking of your PSN account to your Microsoft account to your Xbox Gamertag can lead to some truly migraine-inducing outcomes. I'm desperately hoping this is all ironed out ASAP, because this game will be a blast someday once it's all squared away. Until then, PS5 owners should be cautious.
Halo: Campaign Evolved re-delivers a campaign that feels just like how every mission on the Halo ring felt way back when.
Twenty-five years on, Halo: Combat Evolved remains one of the greatest first-person shooters ever made and Halo Studios celebrates that legacy with a surprisingly deft hand.
Read our Halo: Campaign Evolved review to see if the new Unreal Engine 5 remake and exclusive Master Chief prequel missions are worth the hype.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a great modern adaptation of Master Chief's maiden voyage. If the Bonus Missions are a sign of what's to come, I'm excited for the future of Halo
Shimmering radiance, old jank, brilliant new frontiers
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a beautiful remake with satisfying combat and meaningful modern upgrades. There are some controversial gameplay changes, and the lack
Halo Studios has remade Halo: Combat Evolved for the second time with some stunning visuals and new missions, but also no multiplayer and other woes.
Halo Studios has done well to make Campaign Evolved feel like a respectful nod to what came before, while giving the franchise the momentum it needs to move confidently into the future.
Even stripped of its multiplayer, this return trip to the original Halo nails the fun and chaos that made the series a landmark game.
Halo: Campaign Evolved tries to present a triumphant return to Master Chief's first mission, but drops the ball in many ways.
