Still, even with the control issues, The House of the Dead: Remake is good fun. And while a playthrough will take you less than an hour, this is the type of game you’ll come back to time and time again. MegaPixel Studio has done a good job of bringing new life to a classic, even though its work is somewhat sabotaged by the fact that modern TVs have made traditional light guns defunct. Let’s just hope that a solution is found, and soon. But until then, blasting zombies with a controller will suffice.
House of the Dead Remake is a fun, quick romp perfect for a night in with a friend, but will most likely wear out its welcome after a couple of hours. The HD graphics help update the game to the modern era while the addition of unlockable weapons, a horde mode, and multiple difficulties help to extend a rather short campaign, but still doesn’t offer much reason to continue playing after you’ve completed the game a few times. The thing I was excited for the most, the motion controls, ultimately became my biggest disappointment and I can’t help but feel that there was a huge missed opportunity t...
The classic arcade rail-shooter is back with a new makeover and exciting gameplay changes!
The House Of The Dead Remake is a good attempt to revive the classic shooter and it can be fun to relive the original 1996 adventure. Unfortunately, unwieldy controls and precision issues prevent the remake from being the zombie-busting experience that it could be.
Sega's iconic light gun arcade game is back with The House of the Dead: Remake but does it cut the mustard? Reload and let's find out.
The House of the Dead is a game I played in much the same way that the Whopper is a burger I ate. It was there when no better options were available. Now I'm playing it again on the Nintendo Switch as The House of the Dead: Remake, and I pretty much feel the same way about it.Read More
The House of the Dead: Remake is a lovingly crafted remake of an arcade classic that unfortunately fails on a fundamental level with its subpar control scheme. Without true lightgun support, it’s a difficult recommendation.
The House of the Dead: Remake will appeal to fans of the original for obvious reasons, but several significant issues hold the disappointingly threadbare experience back in several ways.
OK, I know this is showing my age, but I clearly remember throwing way too much money into the arcade machine when House of the Dead made its debut around
The House of the Dead: Remake is a modern version of the arcade classic that is serviceable enough for fans looking to play at home. It brings added replayability with its difficulty, the scoring systems, and the new Horde mode, but is held back by poor performance, frustrating controls, and a lack of new content.
Our house… in the middle of a siege… The House of the Dead: Remake is here! After a prequel back on the Wii, we’re finally seeing some new blood being pumped into SEGA’s zombie arcade series. As the title suggests, this entry is built from the ground up as a new spin on the original from 1996, with all-new graphics, sounds, and modes to shoot your way through hordes of zombies either alone or with a fellow agent.
Incidentally, if anyone knows how to watch The House of the Dead in Australia, please let me know. I can’t find it on iTunes or my streaming services (though I now know that somehow there is a The House of the Dead 2). I have a sudden hankering to watch it again.
