Everspace 2
EVERSPACE 2 had a bit of a rocky start just like its predecessor, but can still receive a standing ovation. With an incredible story, brilliant visuals, and sound design, this game is very close to being a masterpiece.

Ravenbound is a highly ambiguous game that fully allows players to explore its vast ever-changing landscape. Despite its ambition, the game lacks refinement and makes the game feel underbaked and not fully developed.
Dredge
DREDGE can come off as a bit underwhelming if you’ve never played it. The same can be said for most games with a Lovecraftian theme.
Curse of the Sea Rats is, ultimately, a great game held back from even higher greatness by some of the design decisions that were implemented. It could have had a better start, and some of the mechanics could have been tweaked ever so slightly.
Returnal
Returnal doesn’t exactly follow the standard formulation for a Roguelike game, but it takes it a step further with new twists and turns. It's a refreshing redesign of the Roguelike genre combined with Metroidvania.
Have a Nice Death may have its problems, but it’s a great experience and one worth playing if you’re a fan of the genre. Plus, it has some of the best aesthetics in the business, and the little Death character is an adorable thing.
Mato Anomalies
Mato Anomalies can be described as a game with a lack of focus. While the ideas for an excellent game are there, and the art style is superb, it is unfortunately submerged beneath the cavalcade of unfinished ideas and a confusing plot.
PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo is a pleasant surprise from Squire Enix, a brilliant work of art that sets the genre's standard even higher. The game's dialogue-heavy design, and unexpected turns demand players' full focus.
Scars Above
Scars Above has some promising ideas for a much deeper sci-fi action game, but not all were fully utilized. While it aims to be a Souls game, it ultimately comes out mostly as a decent third-person shooter.
Dust & Neon
Dust & Neon is definitely going for something, and it does include a very satisfying overall gameplay loop, but the technical issues can be grating in the long term as they are persistent.
Though the attempts to tie together multiple story threads weren't splendid, its vastness, countless sidequests, dungeons, and character-building give the game a positive step forward.
