Star Fox Review – Passing With Flying Colours
Star Fox is a remake of Star Fox 64 on the Nintendo 64. It was rebuilt from the ground up with better visuals and more content.
Star Fox might have gotten mixed reactions during its reveal, but the full game is one of the best Switch 2 exclusives.
Star Fox is a superb remake of the Nintendo 64 classic, that, despite bringing the same story and routes, stands out due to its improvements.
Star Fox delivers a faithful remake of Star Fox 64 with stunning visuals, refined presentation, online multiplayer, and addictive arcade action.
Lowell Bell takes the Arwing for a spin in the Gamer Guides review for Star Fox (2026)
As I said at the outset, part of what I find so impressive about Star Fox 2026 is how unafraid it is to rethink how we experience these classic levels. There is a deep understanding of lore that goes far beyond Star Fox 64. In addition to hopefully opening the way for sequels of its own, there is also an awareness of where these characters need to go in existing canon. It all comes off as remarkably respectful to not just Star Fox 64, but the entire series. And underneath that is arguably the best version of the campaign that made Star Fox 64 the legend it is. It has been expanded with unlocka…
Star Fox, a remake of the legendary Nintendo 64 game, is extremely fun but pretty familiar to fans of the original.
Where Star Fox stamps its value is in the new part of the game. The multiplayer is exceptional and will have some real lasting power, especially given that space dogfighting games with multiplayer modes are almost shockingly uncommon. With any luck, this release is an example of Nintendo testing the waters for what’s next, and we get even more Star Fox with even more of this multiplayer in the years ahead.
Star Fox maintains everything that was good about its N64 inspiration and enhances it with stellar visuals, an incredible soundtrack and masterful presentation.
Star Fox offers a tribute to N64's Lylat Wars that is just a little too faithful. Nevertheless, we crown Star Fox for Switch 2 as the best game in the series! Read now the...
It's a rare game that is so timeless that it holds up this well 29 years on. Star Fox 64 is one such game, though. In turn, that means a 1:1 remake not only makes sense, but is brilliant to boot.
Star Fox is back, and this remake perfectly understands the strengths of the original while perhaps overlooking its weaknesses. Those who played the original on the Nintendo 64 will find the action familiar, while new players, despite the somewhat awkward controls, will enjoy the characters and the adventure. Although it feels short, even with its replay value, it's a must-have for the Switch 2, and if you're in Latin America, you'll appreciate the excellent localization and voice acting.
Star Fox | Review | Nintendo's classic rail shooter returns with a new, updated look, packed with exciting new modes.
Fox McLoud returns in Star Fox, a remake of the Nintendo 64 Classic Star Fox 64. How does Fox hold up in 2026?
Star Fox puts a new coat of paint over a classic, and it's a grand return to form for the series. When we first got wind about a new Star Fox game, I felt a strange mix of excitement and disappointment. [...]
On the lookout for gaming excitement this summer? There's a strong chance Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2 (based on the N64 top-10 bestseller) is just what yo
For a brainchild of Shigeru Miyamoto, the Star Fox series sure doesn’t feel all that supported. Loaned out to other developers since the beginning, Nintendo
Star Fox is as close to a perfect 1:1 remake as you could get. I was skeptical if that would be enough, but Velan has put my worries to rest.
Star Fox is the best version of this game ever made, and it proves the franchise has more than enough fuel left for an original sequel. Velan Studios showed the franchise still flies, and Nintendo’s growing Switch 2 library would be better with a fully original Star Fox in it.
Mike BC took a look at Star Fox, reliving his N64 days with the Nintendo Switch 2 in the new Star Fox remake. And thankfully, this nostalgic trip through the Lylat system is one worth reliving.
Star Fox 2026 looks and runs great on Nintendo Switch 2, though perhaps more fully original content could have been added to the package.
The legendary fox Fox McCloud is back to save the Lylat system once again. He's been doing it for the past 33 years, but he's still surprisingly good at it!
Star Fox (2026) (Switch 2) Review – 8.25/10: This Switch 2 remake is a joyful, updated reminder of why the 1997 game is, in fact, very good and fun, but it
McCloud i spółka powracają w kolejnym reboocie serii Star Fox. Czy czekający ponad dekadę fani wreszcie otrzymali grę, którą sobie wymarzyli - czy może kosmiczni najemnicy znaleźli się na kursie kolizyjnym ze współczesnością?
Star Fox on Switch 2 is a gorgeous remake that understands the energy that made the series special.
Few video games have stories and set-pieces as vividly imprinted into my childhood imagination as Nintendo 64’s Lylat Wars. Its tightly paced campaign, level
This gorgeous Switch 2 remake masterfully captures the responsive, high-speed magic of Star Fox 64 with stunning 60 FPS performance and cinematic flair.
In the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Star Fox, Nintendo and developer Velan Studios have reimagined the classic Star Fox 64 for a new hardware.
Star Fox feels like it’s on the cusp of relevance with this masterfully done remake of an iconic classic.
Velan Studios delivers an audio-visual stunner, but there are still some details I prefer in the original…
Velan's conservative but accomplished Star Fox remake goes all-in on spectacle to much success, even if the script could do with some wit.
"Star Fox is a Switch 2 remake that understands exactly what made the Nintendo 64 original the defining game in the series," writes Ben in his review. "It remains faithful to the strength of its original design in a way only Nintendo could pull off."
This remake of Star Fox 64 proves the Arwing isn’t out of style quite yet.
This stunning Switch 2-exclusive remake is now the definitive way to play Star Fox 64.
The best Star Fox game, from the glory days of the N64, is remade on Switch 2, and Nintendo’s mammalian mercenaries have never looked better.
Star Fox on the Switch 2 is a triumphant return for Fox McCloud and a spectacular technical showcase for the new console. While the underwhelming multiplayer modes and short run time hold it back from perfection, the stunning visual upgrades and incredibly responsive dual-stick controls make this the definitive way to experience this classic adventure.
We review Star Fox, the latest version of Nintendo's acclaimed title. Is the Switch 2 version worth checking out? Read our impressions.
Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 is a particular remake: the graphics are completely changed but the gameplay remains the same as always.
Star Fox is a spectacular Switch 2 remake that captures pristine arcade dogfighting. While its structural adherence to the original breeds a sense of déjà vu
Star Fox has fulfilled its most basic mission—to bring this N64 classic back to players in a more modern form.
The umpteenth remake and retelling of the classic Star Fox 64, Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 looks fantastic, but it's an old school game.
How do you revive a legendary 30-year-old title? This kind of exercise is almost routine for Nintendo, which is used to modernizing its classics for new generations. And the next game to undergo this treatment this year is none other than Star Fox 64, or Lylat Wars, which is getting a brand-new remake on Nintendo Switch 2.
Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 is the best way to experience the classic Star Fox story, but it's a story we've heard too many times before.
Star Fox is an enjoyable remake given its strong foundations, but it’s undeniably short and lacking in new content.
The Switch 2 Star Fox remake comes with high-effort visuals and a fun battle mode, but its campaign feels stuck in the past.
