Professional reviews from gaming critics
Stalker 2‘s bugs and issues are numerous and severe, but it stands as a testament to how great the game buried underneath them is that it still manages to shine.
The game arrives on PlayStation 5 in its 1.7 version, bringing numerous new features such as a reworked stamina system and improvements to enemy AI.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: The Price of Hope | Review | The expansion and 2.0 update make GSC's game truly unmissable.
For anyone drawn to open-world shooters, survival games, or atmospheric horror, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is an absolute must-play. It’s tense, beautiful, and deeply immersive, with a world that feels alive and unpredictable. Challenge, exploration, and narrative are balanced with skill, delivering moments of genuine fear, discovery, and triumph. On PS5, the game runs smoothly and presents the Zone in all its haunting glory. After experiencing it firsthand, it’s clear this is a major milestone for the series — a game that fully deserves attention and respect.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl may be bug riddled but that doesn’t hamper what is a satisfyingly challenging and highly unique experience that will keep players on their toes.
An alluring and uncompromising open-world survival shooter held back by poor optimization and an absence of AI interactions.
After years of waiting, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl finally invites you to the Chernobyl Zone again. The vastness and raw beauty of this world dwarfs most other open worlds, but the sequel also suffers from errors and technical shortcomings.
I've spent a few weeks playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and while the game captivated me and I enjoyed the experience for the most part, Stalker 2 is not for the faint of heart. I'll explore why in our S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl review. Game Name: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2:…
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is an achievement for so many reasons. As well as being the little game that could, given the team’s real-world challenges, the game doubles down on the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. way, delivering a sublimely realised sense of place with the Zone. Unfortunately, so much of the console experience is rendered so disappointingly undercooked.
After several delays, as well as attempting to develop the game under the threat of war, Stalker 2 is finally here. While its launch was plagued with countless bugs, with many finally addressed, the overall package is a misfire, which is fitting given how often your guns can jam.
Never traditionally fun, needlessly painful, and almost always breaking down, I love S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chornobyl. Despite its many issues, I doubt any other shooter in 2024 could match it on atmosphere, vibes, or ambition.
