RuneScape: Dragonwilds Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
RuneScape: Dragonwilds intelligently takes the most iconic elements of the franchise and makes them work in an entirely new genre. It stands out amongst the survival game crowd thanks to its competency, depth, engaging systems and player freedom. Some designs can be improved, no doubt, but Dragonwilds' most exciting aspect is what it could be in the future, as the title almost explodes with limitless potential.
RuneScape Dragonwilds is a beautifully rendered dive into a classic MMORPG world set in a different genre. A survival game has never felt so good.
Survival games, frequently deployed in Early Access, often fail to realize their full potential. Last Oasis and Rust Legacy, the latter of which has only been kept alive by way of a dedicated fan community, remain unfinished works.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a co-op survival RPG with gorgeous lighting, a clever magic system, and a grueling tech tree.
However you choose to play Runescape: Dragonwilds, it’s clear that Jagex is assembling another forever-game.
Dragonwilds is a slow and steady grind that while can be rewarding, still feels a bit rough around the edges, making me wonder if more time in Early Access could have refine certain parts of the whole experience.
Create your adventurer and explore, alone or with up to four friends, a mysterious continent infested with monsters and dragons.
Despite tedious character customization menus and frustratingly vague tutorial quests, RuneScape: Dragonwilds v1.0 stands out as a breathtaking and potential-rich survival game elevated by an addicting, highly rewarding magic system. While punishing enemy aggression and a stingy stamina bar make solo play feel overwhelming, the core loop of base-building, resource gathering, and spellcasting shines brightly when shared. Overall, the game holds immense promise, though it needs a few quality-of-life tweaks and balance patches, making it an ideal title to dive into alongside friends.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds blends the classic MMO with the survival genre, which feels like a good match, but comes with some frustrations.
