Ultimately, NBA 2K27 doesn’t completely reinvent the series, but I honestly don’t think it needed to. Visual Concepts has instead concentrated on improving the actual basketball itself, and that was exactly what I wanted from this year’s game.

NBA 2K27 is packed with great updates and the crazy amount of gameplay options will not leave you without something to do. In fact, any single mode may be worth the price of admission, all on their own.

Review: It may feel a little familiar to some, and monetisation remains an issue, but NBA 2K27 is a great basketball game nonetheless.

NBA 2K27 has some good improvements to gameplay that make shots more challenging, but it does feel similar to last year when looking at the complete package.

I’d love for 2K to really reinvent itself at some point, but for the version of the franchise we’re in today, this is about as good as it gets.

NBA 2K27 delivers great on-court basketball in an excellent visual package but still has some work to do off the court. The on-court experience took a real leap… but the off-court modes need to match that energy.

Last year’s NBA 2K26 was the first game in the series in a long time that felt somewhat fresh to me. But I guess that it wasn’t due to any differences in gameplay or its overall content. Sure, the new difficulty-tied control approach, which makes controls more complex depending on the difficulty setting, but that wasn’t the reason it felt so nice to play an NBA game again. It was the fact I played it on the Switch 2, basically letting me carry a fully-fledged and well-put, albeit microt...

In summary, NBA 2K27 is still very much just another NBA 2K. The City is back, MyCAREER is bigger, MyTEAM wants another chunk of your free time and MyNBA continues to offer enough depth to disappear into for weeks. But underneath all that familiarity, the gameplay has taken a meaningful step with a stronger emphasis on defense and contact feeling more physical. Shooting also demands better timing, and the new offensive tools give skilled players more ways to create space without simply overpowering the defender. Ultimately, it’s still very much the same NBA 2K. But this time, you might have…

Gameplay NBA 2K27 isn't just another run-of-the-mill, ordinary game release this year, especially with the groundbreaking new DLSS 5 with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering on PC. Before we get too deep into that, though, let's talk about the actual game itself. Me personally? I'm more of an old-school, a
