Those amusing bugs aside, Greedfall: The Dying World is an earnest project by one of the most earnest game developers out there. It’s a game that is trying hard to say something important about a topic that is of great importance, while structuring it into an RPG that builds on the truly interesting world and lore conceived in the original. Spiders remains the best of the B-tier European RPG developers, and that’s a compliment. Belonging outside of the big-budget blockbuster developers affords a creative freedom that Spiders has never been hesitant to embrace.
Greedfall: The Dying World does feel like a better game than the original, even if the drastic change in combat can and has caused discussion amongst those who loved the original, While these changes were made to make the game more attractive to those who passed on it the first time, the core of Gre
After a year and a half in Early Access, has GreedFall: The Dying World matured into a decent RPG? We invite you to read our review of the new game from Spiders Studios.
I've been playing GreedFall: The Dying World a lot recently and figured I'd share my thoughts so let's head back to the land of Gacane.
Despite unfortunate launch-window technical issues, Spiders' ambitious shift towards turn-based combat results in a commendable prequel.Reviewer's Notes: Given how certain story praises & critiques demand specific attention, there will be some SPOILERS below. Read on [...]
I really enjoyed the original Greedfall’s blend of magic and 1600’s technology. While the combat is a little more flexible this time around, the narrative plays too many of the same beats, and its pacing fails to find a groove. Greedfall was a cult favorite of sorts. Greedfall: The Dying World does some interesting things with classes and combat, but lacks some of the charm and inventive spirit of the original game.
GreedFall: The Dying World occasionally delivers on the potential of this superb setting, but can also feel rushed and, in some parts, unfinished.
Spiders' colonial RPG returns with real-time-with-pause combat, nuanced factional politics, and a generous companion roster, but play it a bit too safe and makes a few misteps that are hard to ignore.
Greedfall 2: The Dying World makes an attempt to be a swashbuckling, seafaring pirate thriller, but gets muddled in its own politics and bogged down by too many clashing systems.
I would like to start off my review for GreedFall: The Dying World by stating that I loved its predecessor, released back in 2019, even though not many other people shared the same opinion. Between its Bioware-esque character development, incredible world building, and surprisingly decent combat, GreedFall make me fall for its developer, Spiders, making me want to venture through its first few games, as well as look forward to its future releases. I really wanted to showcase that I was saliva...

GreedFall: The Dying World fails to live up to the potential showcased by its flawed but ambitious predecessor, resulting in a wearisome experience that is merely 'okay'.
An ambitious prequel with a bruised but beating heart, with sharper combat, richer world design and potent anti-colonial themes.
Greedfall was an interesting and fairly distinctive RPG that, whilst it had its issues, was able to captured my imagination. From the direction of the cutscenes, through the interesting companion characters, to the surprisingly dark and well thought out world, it was gripped me from the very beginning. Greedfall: The Dying World is a prequel set three years before the first game. This time, rather than playing as one of the colonisers, you’re playing as natives of the island of Teer Fradee who, through the game’s opening act, is taken by said colonisers back to the old world.
GreedFall 2 will go down in history as perhaps the first RPG to be labeled a "follower of Baldur's Gate 3". It's a pity that there are no other reasons to remember this game for now. At the start of early access, it seems to be a big step back compared to the first version.
The story of the continent of Teer Fradee isn't quite finished. Developer Spiders takes us back to before it all started, this time to see through the eyes of the island's natives.
GreedFall: The Dying World leaves much to be desired. Despite offering an engaging story and a strong cast of characters, technical problems abound, making the experience far more frustrating than it’s worth.
