DK has starred in some phenomenal 2D platformers over the years and his latest adventure is now available for Switch. So, quit monkeying around and let's head to the jungle and hang out with the Kongs.

The DK gang is back for a new (sort of) adventure on the Nintendo Switch. Snowmads have smashed DK's birthday party and attempted to freeze his island and take it away from him. DK is joined by Diddy, Dixie, and Cranky in the newest installment of the classic Donkey Kong Country Franchise. Explosive barrels, swinging from vines, bananas, and loads of new gameplay elements will charm old fans and show newer players just why DKC is one of the greatest platforming franchises of all time.

King of the frozen jungle.

There are so many great games I missed on the Wii U, since it's the only Nintendo console I didn't own. Thankfully, Nintendo seems aware that a lot of people missed these titles, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a shining example of classic platforming with just the right amount of frustrating challenge. It took me right back to the SNES days and Rare's iconic DKC games, and that's no small feat. Tropical Freeze is an absolute joy to play most of the time, and I'm glad that it's se...

Donkey Kong Land represents the best of the Game Boy. Companies should strive for a console experience that's still good on the go, even with limitations. Getting a great game that's on par with its home console on handheld devices is something developers are still struggling with today, which is what makes Nintendo's achievements with this port all the more impressive. Even Donkey Kong Land makes light of that and has great success, as the thesis of making the gameplay shine works to great e...

Some have called this the best Donkey Kong game ever made, but does it live up to the hype? Here is our review!

Donkey Kong Country's return on the Switch brings the introduction of Funky Kong, who can power through stages with an array of fun abilities. It’s bigger, stronger, and faster too - it’s the newest member of the DK crew! Yes, Donkey Kong [...]

I must be the odd one of the Donkey Kong fan base, while many praised Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2010 on the Wii I found I couldn’t have cared less about it as I didn’t really enjoy it. In fact it has been 15 years since I last really enjoyed a Donkey Kong game and that was Donkey Kong 64. But even with that I still felt compelled to give the ape another shot and I am glad I did as Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze recaptures the magic of the older games while adding to it to create one of the best 2D platformers in a long time.

The amazing level and character design is what will keep you coming back. The variety of levels and enemies is almost unmatched from any previous Donkey Kong game. The game definitely gets a lot more difficult as you progress but you will find yourself becoming better equipped to take on harder platforming tasks with more practise. The boss levels are definitely the most frustrating in the game. They’re hard in the sense that there really isn’t any checkpoint. You might die only one jump away from killing the boss and you’ll be forced to start the level from scratch. The only reason that this ...

With the re-release of Bayonetta, Mario Kart 8, Pokken Tournament, and several titles to come, the most recent port to the Nintendo Switch is that of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, a title that I found to be one of the more disappointing Nintendo games I've played in years.

If you’re a Nintendo Switch owner then you likely have very little to complain about in your first year of owning your new console. Since its release on the market a year ago the console has had a lot of incredibly noteworthy games; Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Pokkén Tournament, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms and now Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. And whilst it’s true some of these titles had already been released on the Wii U, it’s likely most people will st...
