As this game is available on Game Pass if you’re into 2D action platformers then I highly recommend it. It’s a solid 4 to 5 hours of engaging combat in a genre that rarely feels this heavy. That goes for the story as well which uses a minimalist style to...
I remember seeing the initial coverage for this title and thinking, “That looks interesting, but I doubt it holds my interest long without a good story”. I was really freaking wrong there, as this story is not good, but the gameplay loop is so satisfying that I could see myself...
I have loved Drinkbox’s previous titles, and I had high hopes for this one. Seeing it release day one on Game Pass gave me the hope that Xbox had seen something special. After the first hour, I knew they must have as this game is tremendous. Using a mix of...
As this is on Game Pass it’s an easy recommendation to anyone interested in the genre. It is $25 US at the time of this review if you prefer to “own” your games. If you aren’t big on a SotN clone then stay away, but if you are then this...
This is an excellent video game that you should try and play at some point. It’s worth buying full price if you have the money, but as it is on sale often now it’s 100% worth a pick-up. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy might be my favorite superhero game after...
White Shadows
White Shadows is $20 US at the time of launch, and if its style and themes speak to you it’s worth a purchase. The platforming is mediocre, the performance is terrible, but there is heart here. If you know someone in their teens and you hope to show them the...
This game is nearly perfect for me and there is no getting around that. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does make it smoother and faster than ever. Jaw-dropping graphics are paired with best-in-class handling and excellent audio. The story mode and progression is the best the series has...
Toy Soldiers HD is a solid all-around package, though that $30 price point does feel a bit high. If you’re in the market though for some well-made hybrid tower defense, shooter, dogfighter then this plastic battleground should fit the bill. It might be ugly as sin at times, but it...
Into the Pit
Into The Pit has some genuine fun in it. It controls well, has a unique look, and has great potential with its rogue-lite offerings. In the end though for me, the lack of variety in multiple areas kept it from being something I could recommend except for the fact that...
NHL 22
Sports games are a tough sell, especially when the Series version of the game is now $70. Thankfully if you have Game Pass Ultimate you get a 10-hour free trial through the EA Play part of the subscription. If you love the sport and want the best looking and playing...
I went into this title hopeful but unsure of what to expect. I’ve come out of my time with the game stunned at just how damned fun it is. It is such a wild mix of incredibly deep base building with light tower defence, and excellent twin-stick shooting. The type...
Back 4 Blood
Few games have a beta a couple of months ahead of launch that somehow plays better than the retail release. Back 4 Blood is one of them, and I’m baffled how it happened. If they can fix up the controls, or you’re like my friend who seems to think bad...
