Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle is another successful entry in Capcom's recent efforts to bring more retro games back into the fold. It's a solid experience whether you're looking to relive the glory days of the arcade, or discover the types of games that cost your gaming predecessors all their coveted quarters. With seven different arcade brawlers in the game, there's plenty to love if you're just looking for a relaxing night of solo games. But bring a few friends into the fold, and you've got the makings of a solid game night.

For all of the games in the Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle, the visuals are clear and crisp, and the games look especially impressive in handheld mode. The sound effects and music are faithful to those of the arcade, but you might find them a little grating by today’s standards. There are a handful of different options for each game in turns of difficulty and number of players and lives, and a gallery of artwork to explore, but it would have been nice to see different screen filters or other visual choices. The online multiplayer is hit-or-miss. Generally, playing with one other person works pr…

Capcom's Pack of Seven Will Take you Back to Arcade Heaven

Don’t hang up! We have a little business proposition for you. Push Square propose that any retro gamer with a love of side-scrolling beat-‘em-ups make it their business to play the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle, particularly as a historical jaunt through an impressive display of seven cherry-picked iterations of the publisher's Capcom Play System (CPS) arcade board games.

Despite all of its issues, the Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle still impresses. Whether you’ve played any of the games it contains before or not, you’re likely to find at least a couple that grab you and make the collection worthwhile. For me, those titles were undoubtedly Armored Warriors and Battle Circuit, but others may find themselves taken with other inclusions. Every single one of the games here has history, and many players will have history with them. All that’s left to be said is that for any self-respecting side-scrolling beat ’em up fan, Capcom Beat ‘Em Bundle is a must-have.

Where there are some rampant online problems, Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle is a nostalgic trip back to memory lane. A collection of solid titles with some robust local multiplayer and gameplay options make this one a no-brainer for newcomers or veterans of the genre.

If you have fond memories of the arcade originals, you've probably already bought the Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle. If you haven't, then you most definitely should. For the money, Capcom Beat 'Em Bundle offers a nice little slice of arcade history in seven games, two of which you can play on console for the first time. What's not to like?

A compelling and satisfying collection of prime side-scrolling brawlers from Capcom's arcade heyday, though there are some missing titles and less bonus material then we'd like, Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle does justice to its selection, making it an essential prospect for fighting fans and co-op players alike.

If there’s one takeaway to be had from the Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle, it’s that genre-themed compilations aren’t the best way to repackage these classic titles. Capcom’s earlier attempts, such as the PSP’s Capcom Classics Remixed and Reloaded would scatter in a few brawlers in a package of 20 arcade games. This made for a much more palatable collection, as a little beat ‘em up nostalgia can go a long way. That said, as long as players can pace out their play sessions, this collection is still plenty of fun since there are more hits than misses and isn’t an awful value at its cu…

The Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle offers seven good (if repetitive) games for a great price. There’s zero excuse for a 30-year-old game having terrible online in 2018, which is a huge minus here. But for those who fancy a violent trip down memory lane, especially with local buddies to watch their back, The Capcom Beat ‘Em Up Bundle still provides simple-minded mayhem for not a lot of coin. Besides, you probably spent more than that on those money-hungry arcade cabs anyway.

An interesting peek into the beat 'em up history and a great way to pass an evening with friends.

This collection of arcade favorites is a must play for historians and beat em up veterans. For everyone else, the completely busted online play and lackluster extras may be a roadblock.
