Formula Legends is simply fun. The racing is exciting, the attention to detail and depth is a welcome surprise, the love for F1 is charming and hilarious, and I just can't stop playing it. Still, it's probably not as feature-rich as some might desire. It desperately needs multiplayer functionality, the modes are fairly sparse, and there are some visual hiccups. Regardless, at the end of the day, I'm having an absolute blast with this game. This is an arcade racer I plan on working into my regular rotation of long-term gaming titles.

Aside from a few franchises that stubbornly live on, the arcade racer is a bit of a dying breed. Of the ones that are released, fewer still focus on Formula

At the end of the day, this love letter to all that is Formula 1 is a unique and fun way to pass the time and feed the beast that lives within each gear head gamer. The pros greatly outweigh the cons in analysis. It's retro enough to show the kids how it used to be done back in the day, yet modern enough to run at a smooth framerate in a handheld form factor. Still, this subversively styled game can be a difficult taskmaster with all of the race assists disabled and rule accurate settings in place. It's the tsundere waifu that will happily cook you dinner with a smile but will clobber you with...

Formula Legends is an absolutely excellent idea for a loving, off-brand homage to the sport of F1 executed with a pile of charm (and an even bigger pile of imaginative content), but its laggy handling takes some warming to and its AI racers frustrate.

3DClouds has solidified itself as a talented group of individuals who are absolutely passionate about racing games, but have always been hampered by their projects being limited by a low production budget or being tied to a (most often underwhelming) license. With Formula Legends, the Italian studio has been given the chance to come up with something more robust, and a lot more special. A racing game including basically every single notable era in Formula 1 history, complete with multiple car...

If you like the world of formula racing, you definitely shouldn't miss this title. It doesn't offer realistic graphics, but rather fun ones, but it still surprises in terms of controls.

It’s time to tackle the long and exciting history of Formula 1, with an off-brand arcade racer that happens to include a ton of simulation elements to it as well. This is the review for Formula Legends, which we tested on Xbox Series X!

Codemasters might have the official F1 license, but that hasn’t stopped indie developers from creating their own take on the premier racing class. New Star GP drew on classic Sega arcade racing thrills last year, but speeding toward a fierce braking zone is Formula Legends, the fresh-faced rookie, which has taken the hard-nosed, serious sport and given it a cute, hyper-deformed makeover, all the while attempting to retain the competitive racing action of its inspiration. It’s a pretty successful attempt too.

Don't let its disarming visuals fool you – Formula Legends is a pretty serious racing game at its core. The problem is, the racing on offer isn't all that fun. Add in a lack of game modes, and you're better off picking up any of the recent official Formula One games – they're more accessible and have features such as multiplayer, after all.
