Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Vampire Crawlers turns Vampire Survivors into a deckbuilder that makes for a game you can’t put down.
The next roguelike game from Vampire Survivors developer poncle is just as fast-paced and addictive as its predecessor, with a deck-building twist.
Making use of many familiar elements, the deck-builder is an addictive, fun, and content-rich experience.
Vampire Crawlers The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors confirms Poncle's talent with an engaging but limited-length dungeon crawler.
Vampire Crawlers Review | Vampire Survivors becomes a hybrid dungeon crawler and roguelite deckbuilder. Does it work?
To say that Vampire Survivors has been influential is a massive understatement – it quite literally spawned an entire genre of bullet heaven/Survivors-likes. There’s an argument to be made for and against that being a good thing, but there’s no denying that the game itself is stellar. The sheer dopamine of it all makes it a perfect game to just hop in and out of, but at its core, you’re doing the same thing and just watching numbers go up. It makes the brain happy. So, can Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors pull off the same kind of trick?
Vampire Crawlers is a well-constructed dungeon looter with quite an engaging card combat system, let down by repetitiveness that arrives a little too soon and a complete absence of any story whatsoever.
Vampire Crawlers is the best kind of follow-up one could hope for, taking everything that made Survivors special into an entirely new genre.
Vampire Crawlers is a strong contender for my 2026 Game of the Year. If it weren't for some difficulty issues that need tweaking, it would already have taken that spot, Grand Theft Auto 6 be damned. The gameplay loop is fun and addictive, rewarding experimentation and offering countless opportunities for different builds. Exploring dungeons has never been more fun, and I'm far more eager to see more Vampire Crawlers content than a sequel to Vampire Survivors.
