Mario Strikers: Battle League Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The Mario Strikers games hold a lot of great memories for me. I played these games quite a bit through college and they were a blast! I spent a bit more time wi
Battle League looks great and has a snazzy art style that is used for special shots. It’s not as dark and grungy as previous Mario Strikers games, but it still has a bit of edge to it compared to the more happy-go-lucky atmosphere of other Mario games. The energetic tracks get you in the mood to wallop the ball and your friends, but it’s hardly surprising that a Mario game would have good music.
In the end Mario Strikers Battle League is an incredibly fun Mario sports game to play, with a quick pace to games and flashy visual aesthetics that add to the hype. There are some issues that hold the game back from being as good as it could be, most notably the small roster and limited online options. The ability to create a Rosalina who is the boogeyman haunting the goal-keepers’ nightmares is surprisingly fun, and the game’s Club feature allows you to use your friends’ wacky stat goblins for yourself if you so choose. Mario Strikers: Battle League offers great gameplay paired with creative customization, but it does lack in the single-player department.
Prepare for Strike, a five-on-five soccer-like sport with no rules – do whatever it takes to win!

For the initiated of the sport, back in those days, Italy were the world champions, Zinedine Zidane was famous for all the wrong reasons, and Ronaldo actually wanted to be at Manchester United. The serious second outing, Mario Strikers Charged received much less recognition than its GameCube predecessor, but that didn’t make it any worse of a game. On the contrary, it was...
We finally have a sequel to Mario Strikers Charged, but the Switch outing lacks content and interesting items to keep this soccer game engaging.
Those who were starving for a new Mario Strikers game will likely get a lot of playtime out of Mario Strikers: Battle League despite its general lack of content, but those who need a little more meat on the bone will likely come away disappointed. The core gameplay is great, but there's not much to the game beyond that.
Mario Strikers: Battle League is a fun and chaotic experience let down by a lack of content and personality.
Solid gameplay marred by Nintendo's latest live-service model.Sometimes I look back on my teenage years quite fondly. I’d spend nights at friends' houses drinking store-brand [...]
Mario Strikers: Battle League is the third in the Soccer series for Mario and company that began way back in 2005 on the Gamecube. This latest entry for the Nintendo Switch has been a long time coming, but despite its flashy presentation, its shallow offering of content holds back what could have be
