You have to wonder why it’s taken so long for us to get an Invincible fighting game.
Invincible Vs makes the leap from animated show to video game with style, throwing a mighty punch at the genre's giants.
Invincible VS delivers a solid 3v3 tag fighter with some rough edges that opens up to newcomers without hollowing out the experience for vets.
Invincible VS will be immediately satisfying for the casual crowd, but it also brings genuine competitive potential through its hidden mechanical complexity.
Invincible VS is a thoroughly enjoyable 3v3 fighter, with a strong cast of characters and some great mechanics that will no doubt make fans of the show very happy.
The game nails the gameplay but fails due to the absence of basic modes common to titles of this genre.
Making players feel strong, Invincible VS will take you for a ride with its heavy-hitting action - even if it could use a bit more content.
The popular Amazon series has received a really bloody action scene that will immediately grab your attention, but the question is how long it will keep you hooked.
A review of the new Quarter Up game, "Invincible VS." Mark Grayson and the rest of Robert Kirkman's comic book heroes slaughter each other in three-on-three teams.
Invincible VS is a 3v3 fighter from Quarter Up, a Skybound studio made up of a bunch of former developers of 2013’s Killer Instinct. Fans of that fighter likely have their interest piqued by that tidbit alone; fans of Amazon’s Invincible TV series fall into that same camp.
There's a fast-paced, fun and accessible combat system at the heart of Invincible VS, but it's let down by a lack of modes. It's disappointing that its Story Mode comes to an abrupt end, too. Still, you'll get plenty of enjoyment out of it if you're a fan of the franchise.
Ultimately, the question remains: who is this game actually for? For a major IP like Invincible, which primarily targets its fans, this package feels very bare-bones. For a tag-team fighter, they easily could have expanded the roster. Despite these shortcomings, the core gameplay is incredibly satisfying, and when you have a buddy on the couch next to you, it offers some fantastic, high-action fighting fun.
