Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
A few years back, players were met with a Kickstarter campaign for a JRPG under the name of Eiyuden Chronicle. It was met with resounding success, thanks in part to the pedigree of the development team behind it. As it reached the funding goal, many stretch goals were outlined, and among them was a spin-off. See, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising wasn’t in the original plans, and if it weren’t for us throwing money at it, it might have not even existed. The initial reveal was years ago, and as ti...
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising packs a ton of fun into a small package. The combat has surprising depth, even if the game starts out unbearably slow, and the few areas you explore are fun to revisit and discover all the nooks and crannies. The town building aspect fits perfectly into the gameplay loop, and makes for an addicting experience.
Almost perfect if not for the nitty-gritty. If it’s quite there but not enough to push the boundaries, it’s still an awesome game.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a fantastic ARPG prequel to get us ready for the sequel, and it runs quite well on the Steam Deck!
The final stretch goal for the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Kickstarter was a companion title that would introduce players to the world and lore before the main game’s release. Rather than take development resources away from Hundred Heroes, Rabbit & Bear Studios partnered with Natsume Atari, and the end result is Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a grind fest that only a select few will enjoy. Those that overlook that will enjoy its well-written characters; for everybody else it's an easy pass.
If Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising proves anything, it's that there's something to be said for spunk. This action adventure game from 505 Games may serve as a precursor to the forthcoming JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, but it manages to stand pretty well on its own.Read More
If you haven't heard of Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes, it is an upcoming turn-based RPG inspired by the classics of yesteryear and created by former Suikoden developers at Rabbit and Bear Studios. When the game launched on Kickstarter, it managed to smash its goals in record time and 505 Games…
Despite its drawbacks, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a fun Action-RPG Hybrid with a charming story and a colorful cast.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a great introduction to the world that is in need of a lot more depth. Hopefully, we get that next year.
While we patiently wait for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the devs have blessed us with a town-building RPG! Though Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is for hardcore fans of a game that doesn’t yet exist, there’s still fun to be had. If you want to turn a tiny town into something bigger and better, good news! You’re in for a real treat. Otherwise, the appeal is somewhat more nebulous.
Do you like doing chores? How about stamp collecting? Well, our first brush with Eiyuden Chronicle asks players to get excited about doing chores for stamps... gosh I don't get paid enough for this.
