Professional reviews from gaming critics
As it stands now, Chivalry II is a thrilling and addictive experience that’s hard to put down once you’ve acclimated to the sheer terror of battle, and it’s only getting better over time. The public roadmap promises new game modes and weapon types before the end of the year. And sometime next year, there will be new maps and even horses added to the mix.
Have you ever wanted to take charge of a mounted knight and ride into battle like an action movie hero? Or perhaps you fancy yourself an archer, sniping enemies from afar? As long as it's medieval combat, Chivalry 2 has got you covered. Nearly two years after the original release the game still boasts an active player base, and receives innovative content updates guaranteeing the lighthearted slaughter doesn't seem stale.
Chivalry 2 is an incredibly fun, objective-based first-person war game. Players should remember that they won’t find the melee finesse of something like For Honor or dominate the whole map solo. Every match moment will be an over-the-top action sequence, where bodies will fly, characters roar with laughter, and nothing will make any real sense.
Chivalry 2 is a ton of fun, not overly complicated and will keep you coming back for more.
First and foremost, Chivalry 2 is an excellent medieval fighting game. The combat system is incredibly rewarding and nuanced, with a wide array of weapons
Chivalry II is a multiplayer first-person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles where players experience the thrill of combat in massive 64-player battlefields.
Unlike other games of this type, Chivalry 2 is also extremely welcoming to newcomers, with a tutorial that will quickly help any novice understand the fundamentals of combat.
With a simple, yet fairly deep, combat system at its heart, Chivalry 2 is a great piece of multiplayer mayhem that will surely capture the hearts of many. The lack of any true depth may deter veterans of other similar games, but most will find a hugely enjoyable medieval romp that has plenty of room to grow. The current crop of maps is limited to attack/defend objectives with two arenas thrown in for good measure. Duel servers offer a more honourable way to play, but lack that sense of ‘’anything goes’’ found in the main game modes.
A Joyous Storm of Swords It's awesome when an impulse buy turns out to be an excellent decision. Since I typically like to [...]
Have you ever wanted to fight in a gruesome and bloody medieval battle? If Braveheart comes to mind when you hear phrases like epic melee battles or gruesome bloody medieval combat, then you are in luck. Torn Banner’s Studios puts you in the heart of those exact kinds of grueling...
As a casual fan of the first Chivalry game, I was hoping for more clarity and polish in the sequel. While the chaotic bloodbath is fun and will keep me popping back in for a game or two, functionally similar objectives, limited game types, and the lack of certainty that my inputs will register is frustrating enough to keep Chivalry 2 from becoming something I’d play for more than a few rounds at a time.
Chivalry II is a blast. It’s a PVP-focus gore-fest that satisfies even in the face of getting slaughtered. With four classes that each have three subclasses of their own, finding the combination of weapons and abilities that work for you, offers you a ton to work towards. Level up, earn gold, custom
