Ghost of Yotei
The game takes place 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima. Set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. The area is outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.

Ghost of Yotei Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Ghost of Yotei is here and it's one phenomenal game that's jam-packed with rewarding gameplay and gorgeous sights so here we go, chums.
It’s not an exaggeration that I adored Ghost of Tsushima, so when Ghost of Yōtei was announced, I was really looking...
Ghost of Yōtei refines everything that made Tsushima memorable, with improved traversal and combat, and a haunting, vertical world that rewards exploration and reflection. Atsu’s journey is a polished, emotionally resonant open world experience and a brutal reflection on revenge.
After five years of waiting, Sucker Punch has finally invited us all into the grassy and snow-covered lands of Ezo, the lands of folklore and mystery.
To celebrate the first anniversary of Ghost of Yotei, the brilliant PS5-exclusive sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, Sucker Punch has pulled out all the stops with a Complete Edition that includes several new features. The biggest addition is the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, which adds a new story arc to Atsu's adventure, as well as, among other things, the rogue-lite mode.
Ghost of Yotei builds on the foundation of its predecessor and offers more polished gameplay, but its uninspired tale of vengeance drags instead of soars.
Ghost of Yōtei is a great evolution by the foundation that Sucker Punch built with Ghost of Tsushima. While the story feels like a retread of every other revenge story of the past few years, complete with the same frustrating pitfalls, the characters, new gameplay mechanics, and extra content make for a game that will hook you from beginning to end. I can't wait to see how Sucker Punch continues to expand the game and the franchise in new and exciting ways.
The Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition for PS5 offers an expanded storyline, new weapons, roguelite mode, and spectacular environments to explore.
Ghost of Yotei achieves what it set out to, in that it wanted to take what makes Ghost of Tsushima so popular (the visual engine, the combat, Sucker Punch’s open worlds) and transport it to a “barely settled” location where they could give us a rip-roaring, all-American Wild West story. So… good on them for achieving that, I guess. But, as I brace for the inevitable comment moderation job ahead, I gotta be honest and say I just didn’t care for any of it. Or the way it capitalises on the Japanese/Ainu setting rather than tries to work with it.
Ghost of Yotei is a safe sequel, and in some ways, that’s a great thing and will be precisely what a lot of people wanted. For me, however, I was hoping to see some large improvements from Ghost of Tsushima, rather than a reskin.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some bandits to hunt—and a mountain range to lose myself in. Sayonara.
