Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The release of Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition means that the entire Xenoblade quadrilogy is now playable on Nintendo Switch. If you’re playing the enhanced Wii U title for the first time, you’ll undoubtedly be dazzled by its breathtaking open world and astonishingly deep battle system. Series veterans will also appreciate quality-of-life changes like an improved tutorial, better navigation as well as the overall cleaner visuals whether you’re playing in docked or handheld mode.
We live in a time of social isolation. The mere idea of going places now seems like its own sort of fantasy, a relic of a time that in reality only stretches
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is the perfect way to play one of the best RPGs. Even though it came out in 2011 for the Nintendo Wii, its age doesn’t really show. Now, with enhanced visuals and a new story chapter, this definitive edition is an attempt at perfectness on the lovely Nintendo Switch, and it mostly succeeds.
From the beautiful new visuals to the UI updates, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is truly the definitive way to experience this timeless classic. Although Future Connected, the brand new epilogue adventure, isn’t anything groundbreaking or super exciting, it’s still a nice touch that nicely closes Melia’s arc. The story is as amazing as ever, and if you haven’t ever experienced Xenoblade Chronicles, I highly recommend playing DE to experience it for the story alone.
For those that can stick with it, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is a beautiful example of what the RPG genre is capable of, and it is easy to recommend checking out or revisiting.
Endearing characters, a deep battle system, and a buck-wild storyline had me hooked right to the end. With it’s new epilogue chapter, graphical enhancements, new challenges and difficulty options for newcomers and veterans alike, Xenoblade Chronicles is a fantastic way to discover a classic of a past era.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition is one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch with a flawless re-imagining of the cult-classic JRPG.
Nintendo’s Wii console was known for many things, and having great games was one of them. In a push to localize three unique titles – The Last Story, Pandora’s Tower, and Xenoblade Chronicles – fan-driven group Operation Rainfall fought for the Western releases of these games. And won.
