As of December 1st, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege is five years old. Yes, you read that right. But how to celebrate such an incredible milestone for one of the only true Games as a Service success stories? Well, how about a shiny new version of the game that offers an array of improvements? Sure, there are still plenty of issues, but if you’re torn between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, then the next-gen edition is unequivocally the superior options.

All in all, whilst the absence of a campaign means that Rainbow Six Siege is understandably not the game that many fans wanted, it is however, one of the best multiplayer shooters currently available. If you’re a Rainbow Six stalwart that’s still not taken the plunge, or simply a fan of military shooters, you should definitely give Rainbow Six Siege a try before dismissing it outright. There really is a lot to like.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is getting its first major update, which in the eyes of Ubisoft, makes the latest release a brand new experience. A good bit has gone into this update which starts with the name, Siege X. It has been ten years since the launch of Rainbow Six Siege and now there's Free Access to the game's massive update that introduces a new mode, graphical improvements and a ten-year plan. Is this the opportunity for newcomers to the series to try it out?

Inspired by real-world counterterrorist organizations, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege puts players in the middle of lethal close-quarters confrontations.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is a very attractive game that clearly had some effort put into the visuals. Beyond that, the title offers more tactical gameplay than most shooters on the market. The biggest sin that the game commits is that it just offers so little overall content. Whether the game sustains a minimum community to continue being playable while Ubisoft gets the content up to scratch through that promised free DLC remains very much up for debate.

Rainbow Six Siege has been coveted by franchise fans for a long time. After Las Vegas 2 in 2008, it took over seven years for Ubisoft to produce another installment, especially after cancelling Rainbow Six Patriots.
