Tom Clancy’s The Division has already set records for being Ubisoft’s fastest selling new IP and the highest selling game of the year so far, but of course
The Division is an online, open-world RPG where you explore the once-familiar streets and landmarks of the Big Apple, now decimated by looting and overrun by clans that will do anything to survive.
The Division is a very interesting game, with soaring highs as well as flaws, and the best multiplayer for years.
An excellent foundation that is hopefully built on, this is a solid RPG-shooter hybrid that lacks in variety but somehow keeps you well invested all the same.
Ubisoft has created a wonderful world for gamers to play in, but The Division is held back by a lack of mission diversity and some gameplay quirks.
In The Division it's amazing how quickly society goes to pieces. Admittedly, a genetically engineered super virus that manages to wipe out a large swathe of New York's population seems a reasonable catalyst, but you would have thought that it would have taken more than a few weeks for things to get as messed up as this. The Division is a third-person loot-based shooter, released on March 8, 2016, by publisher Ubisoft and developer Massive. The second major patch since release, patch 1.2, went live on May 24, 2016. With this update, the developers attempt to re-engage fans of the game as well as entice new players to join the game.
Tom Clancy's The Division was supposed to be a terrific game aiming to attract a new kind of players to Ubisoft. Ultimately, we got a mix of ideas that don’t always add up, and you can really feel that the game is missing something.
There’s definitely some decent meat to chew on in The Division, but it’s usually surrounded by too much gristle to enjoy it for long. Both in combat and out, there are some clearly good ideas, especially the tense and dangerous Dark Zone. But they’re not spread evenly or interwoven cleanly enough to form a cohesive, consistently enjoyable loop. Ultimately, The Division’s overly busy, conflicted design philosophies drown its best ingredients in a bland slurry that never quite comes together into a cohesive dish.
