While the journey is not a smooth one, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu takes you on a voyage of co-op terror that assaults...
An entertaining co-op horror excursion that can sometimes feel a bit too oppressive.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu delivers a strong Lovecraftian atmosphere and tense co-op ideas, but its clunky combat, weak solo play, and performance issues hold it back.
Co-operative cosmic horror has resulted in a unique spin on the extraction genre. Our The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu Review-in-progress.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu has incredible promise, but its execution seems like the team was punching well above their weight. This feels like something that should have been in early access or development for a few more months, not to mention a proper pass for console optimization.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu has some interesting ideas and solid presentation, but no sense of progression and unpolished gameplay let it down.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a terrifying Lovecraftian horror with an incredibly strong atmosphere, but bugs and gameplay flaws limit its potential.
ACE Team's novel attempt at a co-op horror game could have used more polish and tighter gameplay to truly stand out.
The Mound Omen of Cthulu scared the pants off of me. Only, for all the wrong reasons. Come find out why in our full review!
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is a spectacular co-op horror game that can fool players using all manner of cunning tricks. It makes for a great game to enjoy with a dedicated group or with strangers, although the difficulty of the game gets in the way occasionally. Even with many good aspects, it still seems to reach a point where progressing feels frustratingly difficult. The game doesn't always give you the best tools for the job, and, with limited meta-progression, players are left with knowledge as their only weapon. Making it to The Mound could take as little as five hours or as many as forty, and that makes the title far more interesting than its predecessors, but also significantly more frustrating to play.
The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu delivers a wonderfully tense, highly atmospheric extraction experience that thrives on its unique sanity mechanics and brilliant co-op dynamics. However, the clunky combat, flawed map-condition randomization, and highly volatile technical performance mean that a fair amount of patience is required to survive this cursed jungle.
