SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays definitely aims to appeal, an utopia of sorts for Gundam fans, mashing the various popular iterations into one game. Who wouldn’t like seeing all your favourite mechs in one place? For the die-hard fan wanting to immerse yourself in the world of Gundam, this is the title for you. Experience different storylines in the Gundam universe through the various campaigns!
When the issues of a game are rolled and stomped by its greatness, then it’s something to invest on if you have some spare.
At the end of the day, Cross Rays still has room to improve for both presentation and gameplay elements, but the new changes result in a better game. In an era where many Gundam games are failing to improve over their predecessor, seeing Cross Rays try and succeed to be a better game is a much-needed sight. Hopefully the team at Tom Create keeps the trend going with the next one, because they have the foundation needed to create something special, especially if they make it a crossover entry.
SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is an excellent game for fans of the series but could do a better job of onboarding new players.
The visuals and sound in Cross Rays are excellent, as every animated attack is dynamic and exciting to watch. Each unit plays music from their original series, though you can also set custom music if you prefer different tracks. Seeing Barbatos plow through an opponent with its mace while music from Iron-Blooded Orphans plays is ridiculously hype-inducing, and it makes the slower tactics-based RPG genre feel fast and exciting with each attack.
