RoboCop: Rogue City Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
RoboCop: Rogue City has been one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had all year. It certainly is a bit rough around the edges with its noticeably low budget, but that doesn't stop its action and spectacle from shining through, creating a game that honors its long-lasting legacy.
Remember when video games based on films were abundant? Whether it was a beloved Hollywood franchise or the latest animated marvel, there was a time we were
RoboCop: Rogue City is a love-letter to the RoboCop franchise and its fans. And the Steam Deck just manages to crawl past the finishing line here.
Robocop is one of those quote unqote franchises that only has a single great entry in it. I mean when’s the last time you’ve heard someone talk about one of the Robocop sequels? And I can guarantee you haven’t heard anyone talk about the remake since it came out nine years ago. I assume there were some Robocop video games before this, but again, nothing you’ve probably heard much talk about. Which brings us to November 2nd and the release of Robocop: Rogue City from developer Teyon and publisher Nacon, and with that we finally have another piece of media in the Robocop franchise that’s absolut...
Become the legendary part man, part machine, all cop hero and deliver justice in Old Detroit. PC version reviewed.
RoboCop: Rogue City is easily the best RoboCop game to date. That in itself isn't exactly a high bar, but regardless of the quality of previous RoboCop games, the developers got this one right. They put a lot of time in studying the source material, cramming the game with references to the films. The story is interesting enough, but does suffer from uneven pacing. Spending time at the precinct between missions to attend to more mundane things can break the momentum, but does help make the character feel like an actual police officer and not just a rampaging killbot. The mix of exploration, con...
You didn't have enough of RoboCop: Rogue City? Want to experience more? No problem because Nacon got you covered there. Unfinished Business is a standalone expansion that will simply give you more of Alex Murphy.
RoboCop: Rogue City - Unfinished Business calls the half-man, half-machine, 100% cop back into action with an all-new standalone expansion.
RoboCop: Rogue City reminds me of Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. Both games are based on movies, but they tell their own stories. They both pla
RoboCop: Rogue City offers engaging story, immersive gameplay and a lot of side content that's unfortunately overshadowed by bad optimization and occasional stutters.
To conclude, RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business does exactly what it sets out to do. It delivers a highly enjoyable standalone sequel filled with intense combat, dry humor, and surprisingly rich storytelling. Yes, both the console and PC versions are currently weighed down by technical issues — but once those are ironed out, this hunk of steel will shine the way it was built to.
Whilst I feel that the full RRP of £44.99 is a bit steep for this one-note game, if you love the series then it is a no brainer. I recommend that any Robocop fan - or 80’s action movie fan - pick this game up. There are many games out there I wouldn't touch even if they were free, but Robocop: Rogue City?
