Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
In truth, it's a game that feels endless despite its relatively short core content. The gameplay may not be revolutionary, but it's the perfect game to kick back to and have a nice afternoon on the Switch with. Its story delivers on all the cutesy moments and heavy Pokemon themes fans have come to expect, while doing so in a perfectly crafted environment. Endgame content and expanding the rescue team keep Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX interesting well after it seems like the curtain has closed, and that's the crux of the game. It's hard to put down and hits every mark Pokemon fans an...
A labour of love which successfully recreates the 2005 game that started it all
With an increasingly uncertain future looming on the horizon which could possibly see many of us confined to our homes under quarantine for an indeterminate
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX is an entertaining and quirky adventure that serves well to fill a gap between the next major title release – with revamped and vibrant visuals that accompany a different take on a Pokemon game. With accessibility for both newcomers and experienced players alike, the game keeps it simple but plays well, although the gameplay may leave you wanting more or have you preferring to play in shorter sessions.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is an enjoyable game with its fair share of highs and lows. The gameplay loop is really entertaining, even if it only gets challenging in the post-game. The game may seem stiff, but the presentation in general is quite pleasant. Every nice thing I have to say, there are a few things that don’t sit right with me. Overall though, the flow of the game knows how to stay on top and kept me hooked until the very end. The improvements are more or less throwaways, but the core adventure is still a solid one. That is what counts in the end.
If you’ve played a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon game before, you’ll already have an idea of how much you’ll like this addition to the series. Pokémon Mystery
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a pleasant remake of a pair of dungeon crawlers that, as I can see now, are a bit more dated than I originally thought they’d be. There is still a lot to love about this interesting spin on the Pokémon formula, but not enough for me to lose myself in the experience as I did once before.
Red Rescue Team on Game Boy Advance – Nintendo Switch Online remains a nostalgic and enjoyable game for those who grew up with the original game, and are now looking for that nostalgic feeling. This game is ideal for players who prefer grinding games, especially those who are looking for a grind in the Pokémon franchise. However, this older game does not hold up to the entertainment value, diversity, and complexity of gameplay found in newer and better Pokémon games that are already on th...
POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: RESCUE TEAM DX isn’t just a game with a too-long name, it’s also a remake of the 2005 Blue and Red Rescue Team Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance releases. With Pokemon titles usually standing the test of time, can the same be said for Rescue Team? Here’s our review after spending 14 hours completing the main story and a handful more exploring the endgame content.
“Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX squanders its charming premise with repetitive gameplay.”
Rescue Team DX's charming story and beautiful visuals aren't good enough to carry the whole game by themselves, especially since the meat and potatoes here – the combat and dungeon crawling – are so repetitive and monotonous.
