No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files is a kind of filler release, and that’s okay. Not every game needs to be something that overs tens of hours of highly emotional plot and deep gameplay, and the first two AI: The Somnium Files games have already established an intelligent pedigree for the series. It’s nice to have something that goes for pure comedy as a contrast. The Zero Escape team stuck to what they knew with the gameplay, and clearly had bundles of fun doing so. That makes it very easy for fans to have fun with the game in return.
No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files is another great entry in this great series, now with added escape rooms.
No Sleep For Kaname Date is an excellent addition to the AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES series. Kaname Date takes on another adventure with brand-new Escape segments that include some devilishly difficult puzzles that escape room enthusiasts will love.
The most rewarding question I can ask myself during a review period is, "What have I been missing?" I asked myself this early and repeatedly while playing No Sleep for Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES.Read More
You can really tell how anime a game is going to be based on the length of the title. While I enjoy simpler things like Limbo or Braid, having something that infuses too many adjectives and verbs into saying a game’s name tickles a special part of my brain. No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES isn’t even a close contender to the longest one I’ve found, but it has some important aspects. One, anyone reading this who hasn’t played the previous titles will mispronounce...
AI: The Somnium Files is a detective adventure that deals extensively with the unknown. The newest title in the series, No Sleep for Kaname Date, is the third game created, but it takes place between the other two titles in the series. Game Name: No Sleep For Kaname Date: From…
While not without its faults, No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files is an engaging game in many ways. While new gameplay elements could’ve helped the experience, the game still retains the series’ stellar humor and bizarre creative nature.
No Sleep For Kaname Date delivers a clever, puzzle-heavy spin-off brimming with Uchikoshi’s signature weirdness—though its story feels more like fan service than a meaningful expansion.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from No Sleep For Kaname Date. As a big fan of the AI: The Somnium Files games, it’s hard to picture where in the timeline a third entry could fall that would cleanly follow up on the ending of the second game, while also giving us the characters that this one seemed to be specifically focusing on. Much like how the series tasks you with disregarding your main options and seeking out a hidden third path, that’s the exact route that the developers have ended up taking with this No Sleep For Kaname Date.
No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES is a great game that bridges the gap between the first game and its sequel, nirvanA Initiative, while delivering a compelling story and new gameplay via the newly introduced Escape sections. The game doesn't take any risks with its narrative and features, but it offers a lot of content that AI fans will certainly appreciate.
Fans of the AI: The Somnium Files games get to enjoy another new entry to the series as it makes its way into their hands. With the release of No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, we get to see a new story and more of our favorite officer and title character, Kaname Date.
All in all, No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES is a fun return to the world of AI: The Somnium Files. I wish it were longer and had a little more substance. But it’s not too expensive and it sure is entertaining to play, so check it out if you’re already a fan.
No Sleep For Kaname Date - From AI: The Somnium Files is an entertaining spin-off of Spike Chunsoft's mind-bending mystery series, which acts as a decent
If you’re a fan of AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, you shouldn’t sleep on No Sleep For Kaname Date. It blends in escape rooms and introduces a few fantastic characters, though a few missteps keep this from being truly great.
Obviously the simplest solution to get some Uchikoshi-helmed escape games would be if the Zero Escape trilogy were cleaned up a bit and brought out on modern Nintendo hardware. But in lieu of that, No Sleep for Kaname Date will probably keep you up for a bit as you try and puzzle through some of the nastier puzzles.
In the latest AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES instalment, the gameplay ventures into escape rooms after a mysterious individual captures Iris.

One day, after The New Cyclops Serial Killings was resolved, internet idol Iris Sagan (known as “A-set”) is abducted by a UFO and forced to participate in a perilous escape game called The Third Eye Game. It resembles a coffin, and attached to it is a note that reads: “Psync me.” Relying on a tenuous line of communication with the missing Iris, one man rises once again, determined to track down the UFO that should not even exist. Together with his partner, the AI-Ball Aiba, he sets out on a quest. That man…is Special Agent Kaname Date. Switch version reviewed. Review copy provided by company for testing purposes.
The latest title from the Somnium Files franchise is a functional but limited spin-off that delivers the basics without expanding on its narrative legacy.
The AI: The Somnium Files series returns with No Sleep For Kaname Date, adding escape rooms into the mix. Rather than a full-fledged sequel, the game feels more akin to a fandisc and is best enjoyed by existing series fans.
No Sleep for Kaname Date is a fun detour for veterans of the franchise, but not the epic trilogy capper some anticipated.
