For decades Capcom has been at the forefront of making compelling and high-quality 2D fighters. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that despite how polished the game feels, with its newly revamped audio tracks, revitalized roster and extemporaneous movement abilities, that I still long for the days where the X-Men filled the ranks of playable characters. While that is a hot button point of contention with the game and its fans, Marvel Versus Capcom: Infinite is by far and large the highe...

Capcom aren’t going to be able to please everyone every time, but where this game makes strides in its fighting mechanics it lets down in many other facets; and while it is still a quality game to play, it leaves a lot to be desired. Don’t let it sway you too much though – newcomers will find the game easily accessible and enjoy working out the best way to defeat opponents with a mix of combos and special attacks. Long-time fans of the series will take warmly to the changes that come with new techniques and will enjoy using characters they know and love, but may be left wondering what happened...

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is, like football, a game of two halves. The actual fighting half, which is arguably the more critical 50% anyway, is fun and exciting. The other half is a bit confusing.

Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is an addition to a series that adds deeper gameplay mechanics at the removal of some of the characters and aesthetic that made the game popular in the first place. The story mode is a welcome addition for more casual players and the auto combo and easy hyper combos with the inclusion of the Beginners League makes it easier than ever for newcomers to get into the series.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite may offer a solid fighting experience that should hook longtime fans of the series but it happens to be buried beneath such poor production values that one will wonder just where this game’s development started and what they were aiming for in the end.

This game doesn't feel like the next game in a long running series. This feels like a brand new game that exists only to promote the Marvel Cinematic Universe

[Update: Previously in the review, we had mentioned that Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite features the series' smallest roster of characters to date. Factually, this was incorrect as the series' earlier iterations featured between 17-20 characters, where more recent installments featured larger rosters. We have updated the review to reflect this information and regret the mistake.]

A big part of why I love Marvel vs Capcom so much is because it feels like an explosive celebration of both companies and the worlds they’ve crafted, a feeling that is almost entirely absent in Infinite. Rather than a celebration, Infinite feels like a promotion for upcoming movies and pre-existing games, no matter how well it plays.

Capcom's latest fails to impress when compared to the past. The improvements in accessibility and reliable gameplay don't redeem its bargain bin presentation, lacking roster, and forgettable campaign.

One of the age-long questions in life is whether you are a DC or a Marvel Comics fanboy. For this reviewer, I've been a Marvel fanatic all my life, but in the

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite is the sixth entry into the long-running versus fighting game franchise by Capcom. Sadly, this title just doesn't capture the excitement that the previous games captured.

Last generation, Capcom almost single-handedly ushered fighting games back with the release of Street Fighter IV.  They continued [...]
