High on Life 2 Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Squanch Games has done it again, offering a fun experience serving as a vehicle to set up punch lines and wacky antics.
High On Life was originally released at the tail end of 2022. Only 3 years and a few months later, the sequel High On Life 2 is now here. The first game dove into making a shooter with comedy as the focus. Will the second one shift its focus? Game…
Squanch Games' sequel to their comedic sci-fi adventure High on Life is here and it's almost everything I wanted for a sequel. High on Life 2 delivers on upping the ante with new guns, enemies, a kick ass skateboarding mechanic, and much more. Find out what else I have to say about High on Life 2 down below.
The sequel stands out for delivering even more creative stages, devices, and characters than those seen in the first title.
Despite some of the comedy losing its shock value, High on Life 2 is still a wild, colourful, intentionally silly ride.
High on Life makes an emphatic return with even wilder talking weapons and thrilling skateboarding mechanics to keep the action flowing.Strange anthropomorphized guns, vibrant alien worlds, gunplay while skateboarding Tony Hawk-style, colorful aliens with funny-sounding names, and
High on Life 2 | Review | Squanch Games' crazy shooter returns, but the humor of the first game doesn't quite work.
Available since February 13, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox Game Pass, High on Life 2 is the latest installment in Squanch Games' unique franchise. The first game sparked considerable interest by blending fast-paced single-player FPS gameplay with a wildly imaginative narrative experience within a Rick & Morty-esque sci-fi universe. This explosive mix was a hit upon its release in late 2022.
When High On Life 2 is in its element it is good trashy fun, especially if you enjoy potty mouth humour. However, there are often too many issues plaguing the experience to fully enjoy, such as the bugs and the momentum-stopping puzzle platforming bits. In any case you'll likely enjoy what High On Life 2 offers, just ensure you aren't going to overdose on it.
High on Life 2 is an improvement on the first and one hell of a time. The humor shows just how much in-tune the writers at Squanch game are with their players and that speaks volumes… making it a good time even through its complications.
If there’s one thing that Squanch Games consistently delivers, it’s personality. Loud, chaotic, sometimes clever, often exhausting personality. High on Life 2 is the direct sequel to 2022’s High on Life, and it doubles down on nearly everything that defined the original—for better and for worse.
Anyone who enjoyed playing the previous game will feel right at home with High on Life 2. Even though the absurd, crude humor is just as effective for me, the title doesn’t exactly bring a uniquely groundbreaking story with its intergalactic plot revolving around aliens threatening the human race. As a result, I was less immersed in its world and lore than I was with its predecessor. It is mainly the gameplay where High on Life 2 takes steps forward, with the skateboarding adding another layer to both platforming and combat. It’s just that this Switch 2 version suffers from very long load…
