Hades II is an improvement not only of the previous game, but an improvement of the entire roguelike genre and a gods worthy sequel.
Supergiant Games brings a sequel to a beloved 2020 game. Come see how it fares in our official Hades 2 PS5 Review!
Hades 2 is a spectacular game. Its compelling gameplay loop continues to add depth and give players more to work with, one-upping the original title. The charactes are captivating and deep, and the visual and sound design far exceed expectations. Supergiant, we knew you had it in you, and you certainly delivered.
Undoubtedly one of the best roguelike games out there, Hades II offers up fantastic fast-paced action, gorgeous visuals and an excellent story steeped in Greek mythology.
The princess of the underworld arrives on consoles, bringing a more ambitious sequel with new gods and enemies in an epic quest for revenge.
In 2020, Supergiant Games treated us to the excellent rogue-lite Hades, the first of its kind, which was praised by critics and the public alike. On May 6, 2024, the talented independent studio unexpectedly released the very first sequel in its history in early access: Hades 2. Even in this early stage, the title already offered even more content than its predecessor, and has only just begun to...
Hades II is a benchmark for the genre. The story, characters, writing, and art direction exceed the expectations set by the original Hades. Further, the new gameplay mechanics and the addition of a second area make for a game that can keep you occupied for dozens of hours without ever getting boring. While the ending is extremely disappointing, I can confidently recommend Hades II to everyone, regardless of whether you've played other entries in the genre or not.
Hades II is finally available for Nintendo Switch 2 and it was worth the wait as it's one of the best action-packed roguelikes that you can play.
Hades II follows in some pretty big footsteps, but will repeating the same tactics start to feel repetitive in itself? The original Hades was a landmark rogue-like in its time for how it used voice acting and character interactions to [...]
With gods and goddesses galore, Hades II returns to the chthonic abyss as Underworld Princess Melinoë. Sporting outstanding presentation and exciting action combat, it makes for a heart pounding and engaging adventure on the path to slay Time Titan Chronos.
Ultimately, despite its repetitive nature, Hades 2 is simply more Hades, and that’s not a bad thing. The story is compelling, the characters, dialogue, and line delivery are fantastic, the combat is more thoughtful than the first game, and there’s twice as much level and boss variety compared to Hades 1. It’s an excellent sequel, even if being more of the same didn’t always strike the right chords for me.
