The flexible class system means you'll be able to mix and match abilities from many different roles so you can change your specialization at will. Much of the promise of the combat system and depth of the crafting mechanics are drowned, unfortunately, under a sea of interface and performance issues that hinder the experience at nearly every step. While there's a lot to consider when building your ideal class, there's far too little interesting structured content to chew on, resulting in an experience that quickly grows tedious and tiresome. All MMOs are designed to keep players logging in for long into the future, but at launch Final Fantasy XIV's questing mechanics feel more like a subway commute than a fun gameplay experience. Patches over the course of the next few months may address many of the technical issues, but for now this is not a world worth visiting.","https://www.ign.com/articles/2010/10/12/final-fantasy-xiv-review","2010-10-12","5.5",55
2233968
17801,"By Moiz Banoori
154,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/Exputer.jpg","eXputer","https://exputer.com/","5","Final Fantasy XIV is one of the best the series has to offer, with gameplay and a storyline that has continued to impress for over a decade.","https://exputer.com/reviews/final-fantasy-xiv-2/","2023-10-12","4.5",90
66218
5186,"Derek Czerkaski
40,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/MMORPG%20Logo.png","MMORPG","https://www.mmorpg.com/","Final Fantasy XI, by Square Enix, has enjoyed a successful run over the course of the last three years; four years if you were playing the imported Japanese version. It retains a solid battle system, excellent voice-acting and gorgeous cutscenes with top-end graphics that we’d expect from industry giant, Square-Enix. It’s just a shame that for an RPG, where story and characterization are pivotal to the game’s success, Final Fantasy XII delivers on the extras while failing to provide the fundamentals. On an aesthetic and mechanical level, it’s certainly a step forward as XII becomes the most customizable FF title to date (perhaps maybe second to FF:Tactics), but for those looking to see Square-Enix raise the bar in the art of storytelling, I regret to inform you this was certainly not up to par.","https://monstervine.com/2008/11/final-fantasy-xii-review/","2008-11-20","3",60
3855004
4700,"Matt Sowinski
38,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/But-Why-Tho-Logo.jpg","But Why Tho","https://butwhytho.net/","Final Fantasy XIV is a fantastic port on the Switch 2, with some unique features that make the Switch 2 a great way to play.","https://butwhytho.net/2026/08/final-fantasy-xiv-switch-2-review/","2026-08-11","9/10",6,0,[21],[26],[]]
