Drakengard 3 Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
But then this is a game that is most interested in telling a story, and, just as with Nier before it, Drakengard 3 has a plot that is nothing short of a masterpiece. It’s the kind of game that is going to inevitably be under-appreciated by people who can’t be bothered trying to understand it. Judging from some of the other critical responses to the game that have already been published, we’re already seeing that happen.
Drakengard 3 is a bit unconventional at times (like its developer) with tales of extreme hair cutting and dragon piss, but action fans will want to seek this one out immediately. Within 15 minutes I was drawn into its world and its cast of characters, and I wanted to see Zero’s journey through from start to finish. If you like games like Nier, you’ll love Drakengard 3.
This silence was mine, but now it can be yours, too. Come join Zero and her band of sex-crazed misfits as they seek to kill her siblings.
Drakengard 3 isn't a great game, but if you find the concept itself intriguing then I would recommend a playthroughPerhaps the most striking thing about the Drakengard JRPG series, and its spin-off game Nier, is just [...]
Combat is fun, but storyline confuses and gameplay is repetitive.
There’s one in every family, isn’t there? One person who has to spoil every gathering, causing drama on social media, and jumping out, murdering people all of the time. No? In Drakengard 3, that’s exactly what happens. As moody anti-heroine Zero, you’ll need to trek across mountains or through lush green forests on a quest to destroy your sisters and their vast armies – and you thought that your next Christmas dinner was going to be awkward.
I did everything I could to overlook Drakengard 3’s shoddy graphics, repetitive gameplay, poor controls, and shallow characters. Alas, this RPG is its own worst enemy. Everything about it feels underdeveloped and cobbled together. If there’s ever another Drakengard, I hope the developers do it justice and invest in smoother technology and a better-written script.
