Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Developer: CapcomPublisher: CapcomPlatforms: PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X (Reviewed), Switch 2Release Date: October 9, 2026Price: $49.99 USD – Available Here Overview At one point there was a time that fans of Dragon’s Dogma thought the franchise would never continue and then after over a decade of waiting, Dragon’s Dogma […]
Dark Arisen improves many aspects that originally held Dragon's Dogma 2 back. The new region is delightful to explore, the story has more depth, progression feels meaningful, and the game performs better overall. This is the version of Dragon's Dogma 2 that should have been released from the start.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen certainly improves many of the game's weakest aspects, but the real highlight is the new frozen region.
It's been over two and a half years since the release of Dragon's Dogma 2, the long-awaited sequel to CAPCOM's open world fantasy action RPG. The game showed a lot of promise but ultimately proved slightly underwhelming for a variety of reasons I detailed in my original review. Both sales and updates slowed post-launch, eventually leading fans to believe there might not be a Dark Arisen-like expansion. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is a thoroughly enjoyable and challenging expansion to what was already one of my favourite action RPGs.
We review Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen - a worthy expansion filled with hours of new story, dungeons, and quality-of-life improvements.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is a fairly by-the-numbers expansion, but it still has all the challenge and wondrous exploration that made the original game so special.
We review the expansion for the popular game, Dragon's Dogma II. Has the studio overcome optimization issues with the new expansion? Let's find out!
Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen features a new glacial region and more streamlined mechanics, but lacks varied enemies and repetitive progression.
Dragon’s Dogma II: Dark Arisen is pretty much what I hoped this expansion would be. The game is still just as demanding and occasionally grindy as ever, with plenty of long journeys and time sinks, but the difference is that many of the new additions genuinely make the experience better. The improved performance, extra skill slots, expanded combat options, cheaper fast travel, additional save slots, and the new relic hunt all make a noticeable difference, while Norgan provides a fantastic yet bone-chilling challenge for those willing to brave it. It’s not a complete overhaul, but after eve…
Dragon’s Dogma 2 was already a big game with a whole lot for players to do. As you may expect, the game’s Dark Arisen expansion substantially increases the game’s content and challenge, resulting in a worthwhile return to the game’s world. It still has the vast majority of the base game’s shortcomin
