Priced at just $24.99, there's no doubt that Dragonkin: The Banished delivers a lot of interesting ideas and a fun hack-and-slash experience.

With its terrible voice acting and some minor gameplay issues, Dragonkin: The Banished isn't a faultless experience. As far as action RPGs in the vein of Diablo go though, it's one of the best there is, with a fantastic skill system and enjoyable city development.

Dragonkin: The Banished delivers satisfying combat and a strong power fantasy, but it doesn’t fully escape the genre’s familiar issues. Here’s our full review and verdict.

Gamers who have already invested hundreds of hours in another hack-and-slash RPG might not be tempted to make a lateral move to Dragonkin: The Banished. Then again, its depth of systems and generally excellent combat might be a satisfying alternative.

I’ve never really admitted to being a fan of Diablo-like games. In fact, I’ve often found them overly simplistic and incredibly time-consuming. Eko Software wants to prove to everyone that they've mastered hack-and-slash. However, their latest release, Dragonkin: The Banished, doesn't quite convince me.

Action RPGs are somewhat of a bloated genre these days, the format is one that is relatively easy to achieve for indie developers and triple‑A studios alike.

In short, Dragonkin: The Banished is a solid action-RPG with clear Diablo influences, but presented as a sort of stripped-down, lighter version. As a result, it is highly accessible for those who find the genre heavyweights a tad too much in terms of difficulty, scope, or mechanical depth. Furthermore, while the mission grind and combat repetition are present, the boss battles remain the undeniable highlight of the experience. Graphically, the game runs fine, and the intriguing world truly captures the imagination. And while your character might not be the most fascinating, the lore and linear...
