Crash Team Rumble stumbles in some crucial areas that could’ve easily been fixed before launch, but what it manages to get right makes up for almost all of its negatives. It’s recommended for fans of Crash Bandicoot and multiplayer players alike.

Crash has come a long way from his humble beginnings as a failed experiment, turned wumpa hording, plan sabotaging, Cortex pounding Bandicoot. If you'd have

Crash Team Rumble is an all-new 4v4, team-based online multiplayer video game set in Crash Bandicoot's vibrant and zany universe.

Back at Summer Game Fest Play Days, one demo seemed to elicit more cheers and shouts from attendees than any other: Crash Team Rumble. Every match played throughout the weekend sounded like the final minute of an NBA Finals game, with loud whooping and anguished cries of defeat echoing through the entire pavilion. If the demo was that fun, surely the full release will be the same, right? Well, yes, Crash Team Rumble can be that entertaining now that it's launched, once the online connection d...

Toys For Bob reinvents the bandicoot for a modern multiplayer audience, and the results are impressively deep.

When Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time fans were daydreaming of what would follow the former PlayStation mascot's platforming return, we can't imagine an online multiplayer game with a Battle Pass ranked very high on their wishlist. Fast forward almost three years, though, and Crash Team Rumble makes emotes and pinging just as important as collecting Wumpa Fruit. It may not be what enthusiasts wanted, but those who give it a chance might realise it's what they needed. While Crash Team Rumble won't pull you away from Fortnite or Genshin Impact for very long, there's just enough depth and enjoy...

Crash Team Rumble's different foundation can be N. Sanely fun at points, but annoying live-service elements and design imbalances currently limit its appeal.Ever since mirroring Sony’s then-CEO Shawn Layden’s steps at E3 2016, Crash has enjoyed a spiritual revival.  The [...]

I’m not going to lie, I fully expected for Crash Team Rumble, a multiplayer-only, MOBA take on what has pretty much always been a franchise associated with linear, single player platforming, to be an utter disaster. Who the hell had asked for a Crash Bandicoot MOBA? One that’s console exclusive, and with an upfront price tag, as well as an additional payment requirement for a season pass? Whilst the pricing and monetization aspects of the game did end up being as egregious and stupid as I...

Crash Team Rumble is a surprisingly competent online multiplayer arena game that's easy to get into and well-balanced, leading to some tense and exciting games. It's let down hugely by a lack of modes and content though, and I seriously doubt its longevity in the long term.

Crash Team Rumble is fun in short bursts, and if you and your friends are looking for a new multiplayer title to check out, it’ll definitely keep you entertained for a few nights.

Crash Team Rumble is an accessible and terrifically enjoyable online platforming battler, and as more seasons of content are released, it could become a pretty essential multiplayer game. In the here and now, though, it's a bit too limited and features too little content to be anything more than throwaway fun.

Jul 6, 2023

Crash Team Rumble is too lean an experience to foster the community needed for a multiplayer-only experience, trading on the iconography of the series to bolster an otherwise forgettable game.
