Coffee Talk Tokyo is by far the best visual novel in this series, with exceptional writing, wonderful characters, and those relaxed coffee shop vibes.
Coffee Talk: Tokyo is an amazing experience on the whole. The bright colors and collection of interesting characters invite you in. The many lives and stories that gravitate around the coffee shop are full of heart and expertly written. I was invested from start to finish and I looked forward to wha
The latest installation of Toge Productions brings you into 2026 Japan, where humans, yokai, spirits, and kami are all sharing lives, jobs, and late-night coffee runs. This slice-of-life talking simulator with lo-fi music, polished pixel art, and chill conversations will transport you to a Tokyo back alley coffee shop and help you relax.
Coffee Talk Tokyo delivers an incredible story filled with fully realized characters whose lives will undoubtedly bring players to tears (both happy and sad). What the game says about life, our choices, and how we face both is a powerful statement that we can never hear enough of.
This cozy game manages to exceed expectations with its beautiful pixel art graphics and captivating clientele.
Fans of the visual novel games with drink-making mechanics like Tavern Talk and The Red Strings Club will be delighted with the game's heartfelt narrative, deep social connections, and chill gameplay loops. The lo-fi music completes the ambience and further immerses players in this world, making your late-night shift a caffeinated dream to enjoy!

Coffee Talk Tokyo is a game that radiates warmth and makes you feel like you matter no matter how bad your situation is.
I love this series and many more games like it, but I am also hyper aware of the niche that they fit into. Visual novels are always a hurdle, but when the gameplay is mostly second hand dealing with sometimes sensitive topics, that can be another hurdle. Coffee Talk has never steered away from such things as trans identity, work life balance, racism and existential dread. Essentially, if you were not interested in any of these types of games before, this one isn’t going to change your mind. Coffee Talk Tokyo is a laid back, emotional journey with new characters, a new setting, and lots of coffee. It's also perfect to play on the Steam Deck.
A charming coffee shop sim that’s slow going but packs plenty of emotional wallop into its runtime, with a cast of colourful characters that are well worth the asking price to meet.
Coffee Talk Tokyo packs the late-night café up and moves it eastward with a formula that hasn't changed much in over half a decade. The vibe still works, but the writing overcorrects, and the city it's named after never really shows up.
There is a lot to love about Coffee Talk Tokyo, and a little to gripe about.
