It’s a dying shame that Bodycount tries to be a pretty game, but fails on every aspect of it, by either not going far enough or blocking its own path. With a few highs, but many manic lows, it’s as if the game was only halfway through its conception when developers starting racking the pieces together. A disappointing campaign with more holes than the destructible environment gets backed up by a vexing multiplayer option, resulting in a mediocre end product. Players in need of shooting will still find good times in this game, but it certainly isn’t winning any awards other than the missed oppo...

In Bodycount players become ensnared in a clandestine global power struggle as a powerful combat asset with a green-light to eliminate enemies known only as ‘Targets’ on behalf of the ‘Network’.

Bodycount benefits from a solid core, and plenty of moments entertained me throughout the campaign, including some of the more intense gunfights. But the disconnect between Bodycount's chaotic visual spectacle and its precise scoring system drive a large divide between how you want to play and how Bodycount expects you to play. The limited environmental palette and the lack of any real story further damper the fun.

Bodycount brings us an arcade styled FPS that tries to focus on what’s fun about FPS’s. Unfortunately it falls just short of a great implementation and lands in the growing heap of mediocre first person shooters.

Bodycount isn't a good game. It might provide a few hours of entertainment if you're into basic, straight-up shooting, but the controls and dodgy AI will likely put off most players.

Back in the day, Black was a shotgun blast up the backside for the FPS genre, with loud, meaty guns that tore up scenery, blasted doors off their hinges and sent enemies flying. Black was unashamedly arcadey too, revelling in staple shooter cliches like the exploding barrel and a hokey militaristic story. Initially positioned as a kind of spiritual successor to Black with Designer Stuart Black originally on-board, Bodycount shares a great deal of DNA with the 2006 Xbox and PS2 FPS, with big g...

Sometimes they'll ignore you completely. Just stop in the middle of a firefight, look in a different direction and turn motionless. At one point a crack team of five troopers came undone when they huddled near a barrel, and one threw a grenade that bounced off the head of another and fell at their feet. I'm not making this up.
