Overall, the changes made to the four stories in this Blue Reflection collection don’t compromise the central thesis of the series (even with Sun and that pesky male character): These are truly, almost painfully ethereally beautiful magical girl JRPGs with a relentlessly wholesome message behind them. I have no idea if Koei Tecmo sees a future in something this niche, but even if this collection is the grand sum of the Blue Reflection vision, it’s an enormously heartwarming 100 hours that will linger with you long after you stop playing.

Developer Gust might be fairly well-known, at this point, for their popular 'Atelier' series of games (thank you kindly, Ms. Ryza), but they've also got

Four titles comprise BLUE REFLECTION: Quartet, three of which have never before been available on a Nintendo system. Fans at any level can now get a more expansive look at this emotional (mostly) JRPG series, but should they?Read More

With the added Quality of Life features like autosaves, some sprinklings of new content, and the remastered graphics improving the pretty art, it’s even more enticing. For those looking for something that captures the feeling of a Slice of Life anime or have always wanted a Magical Girl-themed RPG: don’t miss out on Blue Reflection Quartet! Especially at that price!

As PlayStation LifeStyle's review explains, Blue Reflection Quartet is a fantastic way to jump into Gust's underrated JRPG series.

Blue Reflection Quartet is a mixed bag of good remasters and lacking adaptations, but still provides a great way to experience this JRPG series.

Blue Reflection Quartet offers tremendous value and a great way to start the series, but some parts of the collection leave a lot to be desired.

Blue Reflection Quartet is four PS5 JRPGs for less than the price of the stand alone original game on PS4.

At their core, Blue Reflection and Blue Reflection Second Light are two solid JRPGs. I preferred Second Light but really, both are interesting enough games that I’d recommend them to JRPG fans who have already played similar titles. The first one is flawed but interesting while the second sands out a lot of these issues, but I don’t think ever achieves the heights of what JRPGs or even Gust can do. However, the shame here is with Ray and Sun being included in the states they are in. I get wanting to include these, so that this is a more complete collection, but it soured my experience with…

These days, virtually any game can be remastered. Although not every game should be. Blue Reflection Quartet is trying to prove it doesn't belong in that category. There's no compelling evidence to support this claim.

Blue Reflection Quartet delivers incredible value by bringing four distinct JRPGs together in one polished package. You need to be prepared for heavy doses of dialogue, plenty of school-life chatter, and an unapologetic embrace of the Mahō Shōjo genre. While locked at 1080p 30 FPS on Switch 2 rather than pushing higher framerates, the rock-solid stability and modern quality-of-life upgrades make this the definitive way to experience Gust’s emotional series.
