It's going to be a familiar experience for anyone that played the original, but BioShock 2's improvements to gameplay and its more focused storyline make for a game that's more playable and easier to digest. Some of the sense of awe and mystery is lost in transition, but the strength of the setting and more interesting implementation of moral choice make for an experience that's more consistent and rewarding. Anyone looking for a first-person shooter that offers more than flat, stereotypical characters and copy-and-paste supersoldier plots, one that attempts to establish a sense of right and w...

In many ways BioShock 2 is a game about refinements, rather than wholesale changes. Combat is better, but the game's story doesn't match that found in the original.

Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. All along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to Rapture. You will play as the first Big Daddy as you travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and your own survival.

The original Bioshock is considered to be a marvel of game design, a true revolution of its genre that took its ideas in a whole new direction. There of course is great reason for this, Bioshock was all of that and even more, it was for a good reason that we fell in love with the game originally and by extension highly anticipated the sequel. However one of the reasons many disliked its sequel was because they expected the wheel to be reinvented and history to repeat itself, this of course never happened with Bioshock 2 but yet I would say I enjoyed Bioshock 2 more than the original.

Bioshock 2 is an admirable experience, one that doesn’t compare to the narrative of its predecessor, but carries forth the fun gameplay that was originally inspired some two years ago. The addition of multiplayer gives us all the more reason to keep playing after completing the 13-15 hour campaign, though conflicting design choices keep Bioshock 2 from succeeding and ultimately stepping out of the shadow of the original.

It is fair to say that BioShock was a bit good. It would probably be fair to say that it was insanely good... but come on, let's be honest, I did not want to come across as a crazy fanboy. Guess it is too late for that now, so let us soldier on. Suffice it to say that the unique atmosphere of the original game made for a compelling experience, not to mention the fact it was a first person shooter that focused solely on plot rather than using the gameplay as a mere introduction to the online m...
