The Miles Edgeworth Collection is a stellar product. It features some of the series' best writing, varied gameplay, and unique set pieces. Not only is this the best way to play these games, it’s one of the only ways to play the fantastic sequel. While the guesswork puzzle-solving can be frustrating at times, all too often, I'm too entirely captivated by Miles and the gang to be that bothered.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection may only have two entries in it compared to three in most of the other collections, but the two games included are well worth it by themselves. Not only do the two Investigations games have compelling stories and cases within it, but they also have arguably the best gameplay in the entire series. Ace Attorney: Investigations Collection is undoubtedly the best way to experience both Investigations games. Given how extensive it is, the new visual style is sure to divide, but both available options are a win for any fan, no matter how you paint it. While the first game has some pacing issues, the overarching story and case-by-case narratives are all gripping from beginning to end, making it one of the many Ace Attorney collections that are well worth your time.

I've always had a soft spot for the Ace Attorney franchise. Visual novels are hit-and-miss as far as I'm concerned, but something about how this series tells its stories – and how those stories range from grounded true-to-life tales of friendship and perseverance to off-the-wall bits where a killer whale becomes one of Phoenix Wright's clients – always resonates with me.

This collection is enjoyable for taking the typical Phoenix Wright formula and presenting it in a totally different way. Edgeworth's adventures are wholly his own presented in his own unique style, but at heart, the Ace Attorney blueprint is still on display, for better or worse. The worst thing I can say about it is that certain sections, like with Phoenix's games, can feel too verbose for their own good. There will be a good place for everything to wrap up relatively neatly, the epic orchestral score will start to swell up, and then the story will just keep going for another 20-30 minutes.
