We all know by now that games can be more than simple reflexive entertainment. They can exercise our brains through clever puzzles, get our blood pumping through brutal brawls or fast races. Games can make us laugh and cry. They can be true forms of interactive art. This is how Annapurna’s newest game, Mixtape, has been touted: a brilliant masterpiece of art in its highest form. Now after playing it for myself I have to ask, what the hell am I missing?

Innovation is the key to evolving gameplay, and those that manage to do so successfully are what drive creativity and uniqueness in an oversaturated market. When Road 96 was first announced, I thought the idea of random, procedurally generated chapters in a narrative-driven game sounded ludicrous. As it turns out, the concept was brilliant, both in its concept and execution. So when DigixArt announced Tides of Tomorrow, a game in a similar vein as Road 96, only on a grander scale and now an a...
The octopus is one of the most fascinating creatures on our planet. Masters of camouflage, these invertebrates can hide from even the most blood-thirsty of predators. Their intelligence is undeniable, being able to escape captivity in frequently surprising ways. So how would a cephalopod manage in an environment other than Earth? Darwin’s Paradox! from ZDT Studio and Konami presents us with this very conundrum.
How far would you go to create art for the world? Where would you draw the line between creating what speaks to your soul and producing what the consumer wants? For those in the creative space, is there even a line that can be upheld between the two and still offer some semblance of gratification? These are the questions Project Songbird from solo developer, Connor Rush of FYRE Games, asks us to ponder. The bigger question is whether or not his message manages to resonate in its execution.
Planet of Lana was a surprising game for me that I definitely didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did. While I didn’t review it, I played it later on and really fell in love with its world and characters. The way Wishfully was able to display character emotions with simple character models was fantastic. While I didn’t think it quite lived up to some of my other favorite 2D/2.5D puzzle platformers like Ori and the Blind Forest, Little Nightmares II, or Unravel Two, it was still a great...
Even though I haven’t played the original PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo, I heard some many great things about it from my late colleague, Fernando Da Costa. When I heard about a sequel to Square Enix’s critically acclaimed visual novel, I figured now would be as good a time as any to see what all the fuss is about. Was PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid’s Curse able to wow as much as the original, or does it sink to the depths of mediocrity?
Another year, another Just Dance, but honestly, I couldn’t be happier about it. The franchise has proven time and time again to be an excellent and fun way to burn calories and have fun, without feeling like a tedious workout. With the holidays around the corner, what better time to dive into something that will help us look our best for the upcoming festivities? Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2026 Edition boasts improved controls and motion tracking technology, so let’s hop in and see how it st...
Well, it’s been a couple of years, so naturally, that means it’s time for another Agatha Christie game! I’ve played nearly every Agatha Christie entry released within the past few years, such as The London Case, The First Cases, and The ABC Murders, with many of them being hit-or-miss (mostly miss). Still, as a lifelong, avid fan of Agatha Christie, I can never say “no” when another entry is presented. This time around, we have Agatha Christie – Death on the Nile, once again fro...
