With light-speed combat, oodles of customisation, and slick presentation, this is one of those “just one more run” games that will consume all your time before you realise it.
Shujinkou
Summary - Both a decent language learning tool and a good game, Shujinkou pulls off a pretty impressive feat here. Some of the controls are a little more complex than I would like, but everything else is spot-on.
Freedom Planet 2 takes everything great about the first game, adds a bit of polish and some extra mechanics, and gives us an absolute beast of a game. I cannot praise it enough, it’s just brilliant fun!
Phantom Abyss is a game that’s still fun in small doses, but technical issues and limited scope hold it back more than I would like.
Dungeons 4
Some poor scriptwriting is easily forgiven because this is a fun and engaging title. Perhaps not a game of the year contender, but definitely worth picking up.
Guybrush’s new adventure is every bit as fun as his previous ones. This is a triumph of a game that manages to live up to exorbitant amounts of expectation and ticks every box.
A good game that suffers from a few balancing issues in places and some frustration bugs. Nonetheless, still a solid and fun co-op experience.
Another great remastering of an already-great title. There isn’t too much new here, but it looks lovely and minor quality of life improvements make the difference. If you haven’t got the original then this is one to pick up and if you have it’s still worth it to play it...
I found this to be too slow for my liking, but if you want a slow-paced game with lots of idle chit-chat and an occasional battle, then this might be right up your street. The sedate pace and minimalist mechanics will probably divide critics, but this one found it dull...
Whilst this isn’t a game that represents great value, it’s still excellent fun. Bowser’s Fury is a nice, if a little short, addition to a game which didn’t get the attention it deserved due to the failure of the Wii U.
A brilliantly accessible and clever platformer with a top-notch soundtrack. This is a must-have title for any PlayStation owner who likes platformers.
With some quite tricky puzzles, Ever Forward is a rather challenging puzzler. The luscious graphics and lovely soundtrack definitely help the experience, but I’d have liked a bit more game. The pacing is a touch on the slow side too, so not one for the impatient.
